I can't get the receiver halves to sit flush when installing my RT. This is driving me insane. I drilled out hole for the two parts of the RT. It looks as if the hose going to the piston housing is too stiff and forcing it out of place.

Has anyone had similar problems to this? Thanks.

I think I had a similar problem. you may have to take the tube off and shave it a little to allow the cylinder to sit in the handle properly. Also when you put the two halves together, don't tighten too tight or the RT won't work.

Did you just pull it off and shave it down?

How much did you take off?

Just for clarification, you mean the black tube going to the piston housing right? Not the housing itself?

Seems stupid to me that a 70 dollar piece of equipment made by the company for one of their products isn't built to spec. Especially when it is just a piston and a couple tubes.

Yes the soft plastic tubing going to the piston is what you may have to shave. It's kind of a beast to get off too so be careful. I literally shaved maybe a millimeter off to get it to sit perfectly horizontal in the slot. Is your gun equipped for the RT or are you adding it to an older model not ready for one?

another thought is if you have a newer 98 then you have the 2 halfs but only part comes off on the side where you put the cylinder for the RT in. Make sure you still loosen the other part of the half as it may be preventing you from putting the two halves of the handle together. I am talking about the second part that goes up to the barrel. If you have an older model then this is of no concern.

The RT should drop right in without any shaving, drilling or other mods. Are you installing this on a 98Custom?

I'm adding it to a newer custom 98 platinum with ACT. Even with nothing else on the gun but the piston housing (including the other half of this receiver..half) it still won't sit right. I'm 98% sure that this is because the tube is forcing the RT piston out of its groove when i go to put it together. They could have built the indentations a lil bit more pronounced but oh well.. Yeah i'll be careful with the tube. Worst comes to worst i can just buy some more of it at a hardware store or something.

Good luck, just be patient and work with it a bit. I tipped mine and dumped all the springs and screws out the first time I had it apart. I was in shock thinking where does all of this go? It will work it just needs some tough love and once you get it installed and tuned well(read the posting on tuning it) you will be amazed at how fast it fires. You will be back on here in no time telling us you bought a cyclone to keep up.

I called Tippmann tech support and they suggested the same thing actually, just to cut a bit of the tube. We'll see how it goes tonight.

Alright! Got it working.

Hahah. Neighbors probably hate me now though. Firing at 10 at night.

So what i ended up doing was using a box cutter to slice a piece of the rubber tubing away, and then shoving the fitting back into the tube. Worked pretty well. I also dremeled the hole a little bit on the receiver to try and make it more flush. Now to fine tune my firing.

Surprisingly you pulling it out all the way doesn't ramp it up all the way.
