CHEAT CODES WON'T SAVE YOUR SOUL
Haha, great stuff. Really though, couldn't they find something much better to protest? I can never understand why people do things like this. If you are offended by a game, then just don't buy it? What are they trying to accomplish- are they trying to save the poor lost souls of gamers before they fall into eternal damnation? Or do they just hate EA?
Seems to me they're just publicizing the game more, which doesn't help their cause much.

there is a serious flaw in your logic.
you assume logic played a hand somewhere in their protest.

Yeah, darn those religious right wing nutty viral marketing people to heck.
Excerpt from http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/05/ea-confirms-dantes-inferno-protest-was-staged/ - this site.
"Electronic Arts has admitted that the http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/seen-e3-protesting-dantes-inferno/ - Dante's Inferno protest during http://joystiq.com/tag/e3-2009 - E3 was staged by a guerrilla marketing agency. The publisher confirmed to the http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090605/ap_on_en_ot/us_games_e3_protest - AP
that the firm hired 20 people to hold signs like "Just say Infer-NO"
and "Trade in your PlayStation for a PrayStation." There's got to be a
better way to promote the game."
But don't let the facts get in the way of your preconceived notions about those who believe/act differently. Feel free to continue your religion bashing now.

HAHA. That's hilarious. I didn't think they looked like the types to actually protest something like this.

My comments were more a reflection on how some don't hesitate to use any minor thing (such as a 20-person religious protest) to stereotype a much larger group. (Sort of the way FE does liberals, except coming across the fence in the opposite direction.)

No one was saying all Christians were whacko's, Mack. Would you consider people protesting a video game to be in line with your average Christian? I wouldn't. I don't think people were trying to make any generalizations about Christians based on the actions of a few radical ones.
Choopie even said, "Gotta love the extremists." No one was bashing Christianity, we were bashing what appeared to be gung-ho extremist Evangelical Christians, as we often do on this board.

true as that may be, i know people who would have done something exactly like that, and its pretty rediculous.
though not quite as rediculous as it being a marketing stunt.
and i'm not exactly a huge religion basher, i've spent most of my life as being very serious about my religious beliefs, and while i'm not sure what i believe as of now, i do still have alot of respect for people who do.
but some people are just crazy.

Yeah, thats why I made a point of noting I was discussing the extremists. The extremists for any belief or movement are always ridiculous and entertaining....or sketchy.
