Picked up the new car yesterday.  06 VW Passat 2.0 turbo.  Black with black leather interior (will be fun in the sun).  Feels great to drive, gets great mileage so far (27-29) and has a lot of power when you want it.  It's a 6 speed automatic (with a shiftable mode).  It has a lot of really cool small things I would have never thought (refriderated center console and glove box, at least [if I've found them all] 5 hidden storage compartments proximate to the driver seat).

Well it cools down to the mid 60s in about 5 minutes so it shouldn't be too bad.

I love VW's. I've always wanted a Golf.

Nice car... I like the looks of those. I have black leather, and don't have any problem with it being too hot...

ps, according to your console, your door is ajar.

Tints could help cool it a bit.  I have black leather as well, it really bites.  Also, some of those weather guards that go at the top of your windows would be nice so you could always leave your windows cracked.  They do help some.

Get the in channel Weather Techs. I love mine and they look good and don't have that tacky doublesided tape look. I have been wanting a TDI for awhile now. You should have gone with a manual tranny. Sure you might have the little push up, push down thing for the stick that you have, but nothing is the same as having a clutch pedal and controlling your car better. Besides, the overdrive mode can be harmful on the tranny.

Is it gas or diesel, the gas VW's tend to have alot of problems.

It's awesome till you hit stop and go traffic.

As far as I know, the tip-tronic style transmissions don't do damage to the engine though -- if you're driving 'em right.  They give you the capacity to do more damage (and generally lower your fuel efficiency).

To be honest in sport mode it shifts much better than I or most people probably could.

I've also found that when it says to use premium, you should use premium.  Wink  Almost a 5 mpg drop with using regular.

Then you've missed at least one.  (Maybe two . . . I can't remember what model year they changed the interior.)

2006 was the start of the latest body design.  If we count everything, we've got: Umbrella Holder, door/compartment to the left/lower of the steering wheel, ash tray in front of the stick, coin holder to the left of the hazard light button, storage light to the right of the hazard light button. What am I missing?

On another forum, someone pointed out a kit to take my 200HP, 235 ft-lb engine to 382 HP, 332 ft-lb.  LOL

Unfortunately there is no price meaning it probably costs almost as much as the car did.

Why would you do anything to that car...it's very nice as is. Girls aren't going to wet themselves if your nice ass Passat goes a little faster.

I priced individual parts and it came to a little over $8000.

Frozen, I'm not going to do anything to it besides baby it and hope nothing breaks.  Wink

That's what I like to hear.

I think I am going to have to own a Jeep forever, as I am too lazy to clean my car. At least with a Jeep it is acceptable.

The stage 1 APR chip that just reflashes your ecu is around 680$, the stage 3 turbo setup that upgrades your turbo to a k04 is around 7200$. they sell the same kit for my 06 gti and with that turbo kit its faster than an audi r8. proven fact. start saving your pennies
