I know this has probably been discussed several times so thank you in advance to those of you who respond.

I'm starting out in woodsball and have decided that I'de like to purchase either an A5 Stealth or Alpha Black.  So after a little research, I've discovered that the main difference is the cyclone feed system on the A5, as well as the flat line barrel (which seems to have mixed reviews).  Other than that, the A5 and Alpha Black (98C) are relatively the same.

My dilema is this: I've dreamed about getting an A5 stealth for about two years and finally have the cash to get set up with the marker and gear.  Having said that, The Alpha Black has caught my eye because it seems to be a fairly decent marker for a lot cheaper.  Another option I've considered is purchasing the Alpha Black and spending money on the after market cyclone feeding system and an offset low profile hopper.  Another mod I've considered is to buy a 12 or 14 inch J and J ceramic barrel for the Alpha Black.  So essentially it boils down to stock A5 Stealth vs. Modified Alpha Black E-Grip.

Thanks Again.

I really like my alpha black, but someone could say that about their A5... It comes down to what would you prefer... AB w/ e-grip and e-hopper, is basically the same as an A5.... I have a semi-auto AB with e-hopper and I love it... AB looks like a mil-sim right out of the package. A5 not so much... but ultimately it up to you. They are both really nice markers.
Thumbs Up

my ABT w/e-grip is a great marker. the standard feed neck does ok but has a little trouble keeping up with the 15bps mode. i would think the cyclone upgrade and a better than stock barrel would be pretty rockin!

A5 dont get the stealth no need for flatline
With the alpha black you would have to buy a e hopper or get a cyclone which will cost more just go for the a5.

A5 all the way and besides then you can join the A5OG forum... they have nifty neato patchesSmile

and isnt the x7 the most customizable marker? doesnt matter all mentioned markers good.

And the cyclone doesnt need batteries... a major plus when you dont have any on you at game time.

Flatlines are annoying. The paintballs move realy weird when you shoot. I played speedball with one(I borrowed) On a 98C and I swear I shot more of my team mates on accident then the enemy.

This one all comes down to prefference.  I am a huge fan of the A5 because it was a gun i bought a while back in the stealth package.  Back then I swore by the flatline and for its function it is still good.  It is not made for pure accuracy though as you will lose some of this at far ranges.  The flatline also tends to e picky about the paint used.  If you want good speed from the gun stock though and A5 with egrip is a great gun to start with.  I never had a problem with mine and had alot of fun with it (sometimes I even regret selling it in the end).  The AB is basically a 98 in a milsim body.  It can have the cyclone put on it and if you want electronic buy it with it already installed and save the trouble.  If you are into milsim I would recommend looking into this.  The reason I say that is because after you buy all the milsim parts for an A5 it can get pretty costly.  Also any barrel that is made for the 98 fits the AB so you have plenty to choose from.  If you still want the added range there is always the apex as well.  in the end it is going to come to prefference of looks over anything since both are blow back that can have an egrip and a cyclone.

The ABT is a good gun there are some down falls. It cannot be upgraded to a double trigger or a response trigger. The trigger does pull hard so when making rapid fire shots the gun becomes very inaccurate. The A5 is more money but is a much better gun. The trigger can be upgraded to a response trigger which all the fields around where I live are allowed where the full auto of the E-grip isn’t  which is the only option for the ABT. The A5 needs a barrel right out of the box the 8.5 inch that comes with it sucks, dont even bother leaving the store without one.
