And that's where you'd show your lack of understanding yet again. JFK got us into a 13 year war without that later presidents couldn't even get us out of. He ruined any sort of open communication with the USSR that might have ended the cold war earlier. Completely botched an overthrow of the Cuban government which then led to the USSR trying to place nuclear missiles in Cuba. He didn't even want to get involved in the Civil Rights movement but Jackie forced him to. Ultimately JFK was a handsome young man who had great speech writers that died a tragic (and most importantly) public death. He's had no lasting positive impact on US relations to any foreign body or domestic policy for that matter. All he achieved in his two years in office was the continuation of the previous two administrations policies and the continuation of the decline of the public's faith in the leadership in Washington DC. ------------- <Removed overly wide sig. One could argue that he never had time to see his plans established into anything meaningful. I agree with the overrated part though. No argument there. |
