| Hey to all that will be helping me. I have been paint balling for a little while, not a newb by no means. I don't play tournaments, I built a big course at my house for all my friends to play. I just want to know a great accurate barrel that isn't a butt load of money such as the hammerhead that is like 150 dollars. Some have said the 16" jj ceramic barrel is a great one. Just give me some good suggestions. |

I would suggest a 12-14" JJ Ceramic. No need to excede 14". ------------- Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good. |

| Ok. I was informed that the length after 16 does nothing but use more CO2. I have a 16 inch on there now but it was a cheapo bout 3 years ago and it does nothing but curve when you try to put a little speed to the ball. |

You do realize that for safety purposes, markers should never exceed shooting past 300 feet per second, correct? I ask because balls tend to curve when speeds near or in excess of 300 FPS are present. The industry standard for gear being built and play of the game is 300 FPS. If a marker exceeds this, you risk shattering a mask and blinding someone to give you a bad scenario. If you and your buddies play, get a hand-held chronograph to make sure everyone is under this limit. Have a few friends pitch in to help pay for it, I paid about $60 for mine in like new condition. It is a critical part of safe play and is a necessity. I don't mean to lecture you especially if you guys already do observe this rule, but too many people have gotten seriously injured for no reason by such circumstances. And hey, those balls should stop curving if you aren't shooting faster than 280 FPS. Anyways, I'd also recommend a 12-14" J&J or CP 1-piece. I've used both and quite like them. Very similar in performance, but the J&J offers a better self-cleaning after a break. -------------

No man its cool.. Yeah i didnt know wat speed the ball is going but we always make the people playing shoot some trees at different distances, jus to see how hard it is shooting. We DO NOT turn them high simply bc we are out there for fun not competition, No need in ppl gettin hurt. but i didnt know they made something to read it, thanks for the update. And thanks for the barrel suggestions those are the two i was highly concidering, i think i am going to go with the CP 1 piece. The two are close in price but the CP barrel i am looking at comes with free shipping haha.. thanks again man.

Shooting at trees is not a substitute for getting a chronograph.

a small handheld chronograph can be had for pretty cheap now, they used to run about $90. Having one person at your field with one will make the game more safe, and fun for everyone.

it does not give BPS readings.

I hate to sound disagreeable, but if you know what your doing, using a tree and comparing speeds is a fairly consistent way to make sure nobody is shooting hot. It is a method i've used for nearly 7 years. It just takes a good set of ears to be able to tell the slight timing differences. Of coarse my paycheck will depend on my ears, (sound engineering) so i'm a bit more tuned than average. This year however, we did buy a chrono just to make it easier since my bro was able to get a nice job and it became affordable. Definately recomend rec-ballers pruchase one though. We also ave the 'second one' listed above...very easy to use, but it doesn't allways see the balls. |

Dye Boomsticks for tippmanns are usually pretty cheap on ebay 15-30 and there quality and accuracy is second to none. pbreview.com is also a good site to check reviews of all products instead of just purchasing and being disappointed. Go for a 12-14'' J&J ceramic. I have also been paintballing for a while now, but I am contemplating getting a 14" linear smartparts barrel for my 98. but I wanted advise on how well that barrel shoots from other ballers. -------------
