Catfish are my favorite. Blues, channels, flatheads, doesn't matter. I'll fish for anything that swims, though.

I voted for strippers, because... yeah.

But seriously, I love largemouth bass fishing. That being said, I haven't really gone saltwater fishing too much.

I don't have the patience for fishing.  The only fish I have ever caught in my life involved the use of a .357 Magnum while intoxicated.*

*Yes, amazingly stupid of me; and one of several reasons that all alcohol-related humor aside I rarely drink anymore.  (And when I do, I never go beyond the point of a mild buzz** more than once or twice a year.)
**A point I can reach very cheaply*** thanks to my carefully cultivated excessively low tolerance for alcohol.
***The expenses can be kept down even when drinking the better stuff.****
****Beer that is, I don't like hard liquor.*****
*****Anymore.******
******With the exception of tequila.

Edited:  For factual purposes.

depends on the size of the striper. the 30+ inch stripers are a very fun catch. that being said, large mouth bass put up a good fight.

I've lived in Florida my whole life and I have never off-shore salt water fished.

Probably because we have some of the best large-mouth lakes in the country.

In middle and high school, I probably fished more days after school got out than not.

I like your 19th century hyphenation of largemouth bass. Right up there with China-man and cat-fish.

I myself like to catch strippers. I usually go early in the week when there are less people out so you have a chance to actually interact with the strippers. Sure they're not the type you'll bring home to meet mom but they're still a lot of fun. Even if they just lay there like a fish.

Small mouth bass definately put up a bigger fight than a large mouth.

That said, I usually catch a lot more fish when I go large mouth fishing. Last time I went, I caught 10 keepers, including one that was 20", 4lbs... then I got shot at and had to stop.

Is is odd that the only things I have caught have been sharks and crayfish? Generally on the same trips?

And, Man they have to enforce limts harder. Crayfish are getting smaller and smaller.

The least fun I have had was deep sea fishing for Amberjack with 8 hungover lightweights off the coast of Florida.

IF you don't like strippers of blues, you're not from NEW ENGLAND.  That's what I go for when I cast off the shore line or when I go off  the coast of Gloucester mass. IF you never heard of Gloucester mass. then you never seen the perfect storm.

This thread is pointless without pics...

I love to fish, we have a stocked pond that is over an acre full of channel cats, bass, and hybrid bluegills, as well as a few huge carps.

Here is a small largemouth, and a big largemouth.

and a big largemouth (4lbs)

This largemouth got hammered by something prior to me catching it...

It depend's on what yo want to catch. If you want a good size fish. You would need bait. Sometime's you can get them on lure's. It depends on what they are going for. If there going for the bait, then use the bait. If there not going for the bait, then go with the lure's. If there not going for lures, then go to bait. It also depend's on the weather.

I can't say the same except when I surf cast for them. Usually drifting in the Bay off of sand bars I hit some reall decent fighters. I use Diamond jig and sand worms when drifting.

Just did a river fishing week and nailed a ton of fish. My whole family came out and we ended up with 80+ fish in a week. Just pink salmon but hey, they smoke up well and we wont have to buy fish for a while.

I have never seen the river so full of fish

I want pics of the 4.5lb smallie, IMHO they're superior to largemouth in every way but maximum size. If I get one 2.5 to 3 lbs I'm have a good day.
