Has anyone else played this/ tried this game yet? It seems like a perfect forum game. When I first started I thought it looked pretty mediocre, but it got more and more decent as I played through the demo.
You play as a soldier at Custer's last stand, and just as you are nearing death time slows down and a time portal-orb thing shows up and a man comes out and takes you with him.
So the gist of it is, you are sent through time for research, and to keep the past on the path it's supposed to be on by keeping people alive, killing others, etc. It's a pretty basic first person shooter, but kind of fun.
In the demo, after being sent back in time again you are given a single shot muzzle loading rifle, and a lever action rifle. You have to pretty much stand facing the enemy and just shoot, reload, shoot, reload, etc. I'm pretty sure that when you die, you start over and they help you out more because in my case I died...and when I came back I had a different objective, to meet a man in a barn just before running with the troops.
As a result, I was given a very modern assault rifle to go do some "numerical adjustment"
So you get to stand on a ridge and literally mow your opponents down as they struggle with their old timey weaponry.

I ran out of time and had to turn the demo off but I really hope the whole game is decent. I was looking at the wiki for it and it looks like you even have to go back to Pompeii when Mt. Vesuvius is erupting which is just....amazingly cool to me.

Anyways I know theres a demo on 360, not sure about anything else, but it appears to be a 360/ PC title.

Looked at it on Steam, the game kinda reminds me of the 80's era SSI board game on time travel....trooper has a PRC77 radio repeatedly struck by lightning, each time appearing in another great battle of the world and time.

I am waiting on more reviews before I decide.

OS, look for a demo. The first level made me think of you for some reason. Something about someone screaming "thurs injuns everywhere!" and shooting at them with an OLD revolver just seemed like you'd like it. Once they got to soldiers running through corn to stand still and shoot, I knew you would.

But true, NO idea how the whole game is, but hey worth a try.

Looked into it and was definately interested in the concept but it looked like a budget quality game

It sure does look like it. When I first started it up I thought the whole thing would be rubbish but after turning the look sensitivity up its fine. In your weapons training you even have to fire a cannon, good times.

I heard of this game a while ago and was excited, but the demo proved to be quite boring, even on the highest difficulty level.

It starts as a rail shooter where you can't get hit, and when you do get your freedom, the path is pretty much linear. The NPCs don't react at all to the devastating firepower you have with the assault rifle. To me, they lost all credibility there. The point of this game is to play through history with weapons of inappropriate eras, and it could have been interesting. Even when they do react to something futuristic, their behavior doesn't change at all except for two lines describing what they see.

I just don't see this accomplishing the goal the concept creator had in mind.

Played through the demo.

Fun but I couldn't see myself buying it, not even for the $35 that it is going for right now.

Tolgak got it spot on.

Cool concept, mediocre exeution.

The trailer looks great, is the ingame as good?

I bought TF2 and L4D. Most the demos I grab are poor.

Wow shame to hear. I could see it heading that way for sure, but had my fingers crossed it wouldn't. I think this is a $5 bargain bin pc game for the lulz, and thats it.

But seriously, what guy hasn't thought about what it would be like to take a tec9 back to the crusades? How could you butcher an idea as sweet as that :(

They also failed in that every shot is a one-shot kill. Granted, a single shot takes most people out of battle, but it makes it all too easy to tear apart the hordes of enemies that come at you.

Problem is, they just don't fear you as they should. I'm sitting there, mowing people down with the assault rifle, and there isn't a single comment about my weapon. Just hearing that type of gunfire back then would stop a normal era person in his tracks no matter what he's doing.

And speaking of hordes of enemies, the game reminds me of Call of Duty, except nothing you do triggers the infinitely spawning hordes to go away except waiting until an unseen timer or something runs out. When you do run into groups that do not replenish, there are few, they're far between, and they have the mental capacity of a pallet of cereal boxes.

I would love to take a Tec-9 back to the Crusades. Unfortunately in this game, none of them would be screaming about or trying to fight harder against my devil weapon. Two men coming out of a portal (which makes a cracking sound) in shiny white Halo/Robocop suits would not be greeted with two lines of uninspired dialogue; they'd be greeted by a river of sewage flowing out of those people's pants. Instead, they ran along side the guy.

The game is unsalvageable. Their best hope is to make a sequel, release plenty of developer diaries about why people should be excited, then they should deliver what should have been in the first game. I still think they'll screw it up, so maybe they should just save their money until they are somehow inspired.

[/appropriately harsh criticism]

Yeah I'd like to see a sequel...but even more I'd like to see a rip-off. And yeah I thought about that too, even the character that you play seems impossible. Like he'd just silently accept "oh time travel exists and here I am"
How would his brain not crack when he was taken to the future in those conditions? Obviously as you said, same goes for the NPC's. I had fun mowing down the enemies, but thought it was odd that no-one mentioned my gun (on my team or theirs) I'm pretty sure I'd notice it as I ran beside someone.
I'd still like to see the Pompeii level, as I've always thought Pompeii was cool, and I've finally been there.

I think Tolgak took this one apart pretty dern well, the idea/ concept fits this forum to a tee, but the execution is rubbish.
Fingers crossed for a ripoff, as I said that's practically a boyhood fantasy.

How many of us would have our brains crack? And how many would be "Where's my phased plasma gun!?"

I get that people would think twice about the guy out of the portal thing, but honestly I'd be fine with it.

So you are saying you'd all fall to pieces if some guy stepped out of a glowing portal and said "I'm from Teh future111!!! Come with me if you want to live."

Especially if he had something cool that was definately future tech?

Riiight back at you. I'm sure I'd have a mini flip out about how cool it is, and how cool it'll be to try it, but brain cracking? No way.

I kinda wish they'd stop with all the episodes and make a new HL.
