So, if the government FORCES you to buy health insurance, to me that is a tax...

And George finally asked a tough question. Guess he won't get any more interviews...

What do you think?... Is this a "tax" or more of Peters lawyer speak?

I love how the President discounts any argument that goes back to the dictionary as "reaching".

Talk about hurting your credibility with the common man.

FE, champion of people taking responsibility for themselves, now pissed off because the government wants to force people to take responsibility for themselves.

You have insurance do you not?

Then shut the hell up because you are not forced to do anything different than now.

Another persons car smashes into mine, THEIR fault, they should pay. Insurance assures me that they will have enough to cover the cost of repairs to MY car.

Another person gets sick, THEIR fault, they should pay. I am not all involved in said sickness, why should I have to pay for it?

I really have no idea how anyone can use forced car insurance as example of how universal healthcare insurance is going to run.

Besides, driving on a governmental paid for road system(albeit paid for by our taxes) is a privilege not a right. And thus certain rules must be abide by. Living is a universal right, if I want to live my life without health insurance, then I shouldn't have to pay for those who do.

If you don't like it, don't read it or post in it...

Waaah, They pointed out the arrogance of my supreme leader, Waaahhh!

Man up, children...

Look, I CHOOSE to buy a car, therefore I need insurance to drive it on the roads to protect others of my stupidity. After reading a bunch of you guys posts it makes me glad that the STATES force you to buy insurance, as many of you are so irresponsible that you would drive sans insurance and destroy others property without even giving it another thought.

That has nothing to do with a MANDATED TAX on being alive, forced by the federal government, the whole premis which is against the constitution mind you...

Well, your alive, you have to pay this tax in case you get sick... Well, I haven't been to a hospital since I was born, why do I HAVE to buy insurance? Oh, to pay for the slackers that go to the hospital every week, and never pay for it themselves?...

Why doesn't the government just tell me how much money I can make and be done with it... Oh, wait, that is exactly what the new "pay" Czar is doing...

Well, at least they are now considering giving the newspapers a bailout... Then it will be official, as the acorn videos and consequent ignoring of the story by the mainstream media proves they are just an arm of the government.

Why George would point out one tiny aspect of the Presidents agenda in this story, it makes me wonder what has happened to him, he seemed to be totally on board with leaving his spine at the door during any interaction with this white house...

Sounds "fair"...

Actually, so far I am pretty sure Obama has given FE a tax CUT this year.

Will there be increased taxes in the future?  Hopefully - but so far Obama has mostly reduced them.

I do however like the idea of making a script to hide all his posts... Somebody needs to get crackn on that.

We've tried. Ran into some difficulties in the way the forum generates HTML. I need to read up more on JavaScript and HTML DOM.

George did not as a tough question . . . a tough question would have been how the president can claim the plan will be deficit-neutral when those numbers are achieved through the simple expedient of just ignoring costs that would make them untrue.

I'm taking this statement to mean that having auto insurance is to protect others from suffering the financial consequences of someone else's stupidity.

Possibly on the off-chance that you do get sick/injured and the treatment is prohibitively expensive.  This way you would have paid into the system rather than be expecting it to handle the costs you can't without ever having contributed.  (I am compelled to point out that similar logic could be applied to the auto insurance you seem to approve of.  I.e. "I have never had an accident, why do I HAVE to buy insurance?")

Oh, to pay for the slackers that go to the hospital every week, and never pay for it themselves?...

These people do exist, I saw it with the military medical system . . . and this is why I believe any changes to the medical system should include some type of co-pay designed to prevent abuses.  (I also believe such a "co-pay" should be refundable later if it is proven the "abuses" were in actuality necessary repeat visits caused by the inability of a doctor to properly diagnose a problem.)

While I am against the idea of mandated insurance on basic principals*, your argument actually supports the opposing viewpoint.

*One of those principals being the fact that I don't trust the government to not become as intrusive as possible if you give them the slightest chance to do so.
