My moms got a 2005 impala with the 3800 series (3.8l). Its got good acceleration when it has traction, but I dislike the car. Feels cheap, and the CPU decides that sometimes its not gonna let the car start. As in the starter doesnt even move and it blinks SECURITY at you. We had the computer replaced and it still does it.

Also the front end is too low.
And the car would be so much more fun with rwd.

Cop cars will be way more stripped down than his.  Hubs instead of alloys, no vent visors on the windows, likely no spoiler, and of course they will have antennas and the stupid light.

Not to say you wouldn't mistake it from a distance, though.

Also, I don't know if it's just a Houston thing, but I've NEVER seen an entirely white unmarked police car. On top of the fact mine has a body kit...

If you confuse this for a cop car at any reasonable distance, you simply aren't paying attention to the other cars around you.

I believe mine's a 3.8. Very peppy little motor, at least when compared to what I'm used to driving. The car also handles pretty well for a mid-size sedan. Very responsive. I also really like the way the interior is laid out. It's a comfortable car for me, and that by itself means a lot.

did you pop the hood? GM prints the size of their engines on the top...

it will say in big letters 3800 II or III

it probably has a 3.8 but you need to be a man and see if its supercharged or not...

someone will be by shortly to take a quarter of your man card for not knowing your engine type, let alone how to rebuild it...

Hah. Okay, I think y'all might deserve a bit more of a backstory. This car has actually been in my family for a few years now. We just got a new (GORGEOUS) Toyota Avalon, so we've been trying to sell the Impala. It's an LS model, meaning non-supercharged 3.8, but I don't know if it's a II or III. It's got ~90k miles on it, so it's not new. This was my mom's car, and since I had the van, I never bothered with it. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy driving it when I got the chance. It >>>>>>> van. On that note, I decided to jump on it to make it officially mine. I only have to pay $125 a month for it. :)

From F-150's to the 90's civic (WITH A BODY KIT) to a Maxima, I have seen such a stupid amount of undercover cop cars.

The civic I only saw because I was behind him driving through a city and WOOWOO lights go on to go somewhere a few blocks up.

Not to mention the annoying as hell Ford Tauruses they have.

My comment stands. I drive quite a bit, and I've yet to see a solid white unmarked police vehicle.

By the way, unmarked =/= undercover.

i doubt your tiburon will "take on" an LS1 Firebird... it has the same engine as my Elantra and the Tibby weighs more. 145hp (crank hp ~120 wheel hp) in a car that weighs 3000lbs is not a lot of power.

4.0L engine with a RWD Explorer Sport and manual transmission. Its super light in the back and without 4WD, it SUCKS! I have the tires on it from the previous owner, they just like normal car-looking tires. I have off road tires for the winter. I lose traction going from 1st to 2nd gear every now and then with rain.

It was super bad when I was trying to drive with my walking boot on from my broken ankle.

Haha, Ive never had a problem till this past year.

Automatic and 4WD are great inventions.
RWD and Manual transmissions should be left to sports cars and big semis/towing vehicles(transmission atleast).

FWD = Fail.

When the same 2 wheels controll most of the braking, putting all the power to the ground, and all the steering, something is bound to go wrong.

my Elantra has this hardcore.... off the line it turns hard to the right if i dont hold on. as im getting up to speed for the interstate while compensating for this as it shifts to 3rd it goes away and if i dont loosen me grip in time i pull myself back to the left real hard.

my Elantra has this hardcore.... off the line it turns hard to the right if i dont hold on. as im getting up to speed for the interstate while compensating for this as it shifts to 3rd it goes away and if i dont loosen me grip in time i pull myself back to the left real hard.

same with my tiburon, but it does it through every gear if im on it hard.
