I want to make one of my guns to look like the assault rifle from halo. problem is I need a material that is cheap but can withstand battle damage. I'm hoping that the finished product will look like this:

I will post pics of the finished product when and if I get it done.

No, NOW it has lame all over it.

But on a serious note, I personally hate most of the weapons in the HALO universe.

Especially something as big and slab sided as that, when hits to guns count as kills in paintball. Why make it so big? That design always struck me as a serious waste of space. You could make it so much more compact.

I'd run with something like the MP7 SMG pistols they use in HALO. (Unless you want to run a Q-loader I don't see that rifle working, you'd have to stick even MORE junk on it)

Eh, with the curviness of it I wouldn't doubt that that plastic malarkey cushman does'd work. On the note of silly nerdy sci-fi videogame guns; make the lazer gun from Call Of Duty World At War! Heck, As long as you're going to look silly on the field, your best best'd be to go all out as far as rediculous videogame weaponry is concerned and make the wunderwaffe DG-2from Nazi zombies!....
....lord I can't wait until my back is fixed so I can get out moreDisapprove.....haha

Kayback in our games gun shots do not count as kills so it wouldn't really matter.

And somebody please tell me of materials that I can buy! I don't care about your opinions!

Do they make this as a replica toy or as an airsoft? If not, look into making it out of fiberglass. You could probably make the molds out of cardboard etc and glass over them... Honestly, from the shape of it, I would say start with a TM7 or maybe T9 as a base.

Alright, so I am just that bored today. If you search Halo Assault Rifle (toy, making, etc) some various videos come up. In one a guy is using this:

As a base. It seems kind of small, but looks pretty similiar and you may be able to at least cut it up for use. Maybe along with some resin and plastic form a modeling (hobby) shop, you could render something.

Really? Gun hits don't count?

Odd field you play at.

Then why not make it bigger and use it as a shield?

Seriously though, that weapon can be slimmed way down. It has seriously OTT mouldings.

You don't care about our opinions, but want our information? Gotcha.

How good are you at resin casting?

That laser tag Covenent plasma rifle looks easier to make into a paintball gun than this weapon.

^^^^ I play at several fields as well that don't count hopper or weapon hits.

Maybe it is the backwards African fields I play at, but getting hit in a weapon counts as an out.

Couse I'm an ass and tend to overshoot, so that isn't really a problem.

Most rental sites don't count gun, hopper or head hits here.
Anyone that plays on walkons or big games (An actual paintballer, not just a punter hunter) knows that these shots do in fact count.
If you want to play big boy paintball I wouldn't reccomend you make this gun.

People will laugh then shoot it.

I don't play at an organized range I just play over at our hunting cabin where we have a field with old cars and farm equipment. Everything is purely recreational and I probably wouldn't bring that gun to a range anyway knowing they count marker shots.

How much does fiberglass cost?

Attach a riot shield to your gun?

It's funny that you say that.  The field I play at doesn't count gun hits either.  (This is not a subject I care either way on.  The only advantage to allowing gun hits is it lets me take out the guys who just stick their gun out and fire blindly a little easier.  Without gun hits, I have to either take the time to make them waste most of their paint or shoot enough to keep them not looking while I move to a better firing angle.  They still go out, it's just more work.)  Anyway, last summer we had a kid show up with a home-made riot shield (non see-through) and he was granted permission to use it.  I made him my personal target and took him out in the first three games* and he gave up on it.  (He was a much better player without it by the way.)

*  First game I shot him in the foot as he was moving up on me.  Second game he kept the shield lower so I shot the bottom of the shield a couple of times then popped him in the mask when he dropped the shield to the ground to cover his feet.  Third game he grounded the shield and froze in place hunkered behind it as soon as my first shot hit it so I kept a slow steady fire on the shield to keep him down and moved to a better firing angle.

I can't believe they allowed him to use it, but kudos for teaching him a lesson.

The only time I have seen something like this allowed was at a scenario were this was given as a special power. One team was given 3-4 shields and allowed to get as many people behind them as possible. Didn't work very well.

Your Right Unless the person making this wants to just have fun and doesn't care about getting competitive. Lets face it. Its frickin sweet to see a guy walk onto a paintball field with a assault rifle
