I just got it on a new laptop.
The taskbar is annoying as hell because when you open 2 of the same program it layers them rather than laying them side by side.
Also, for some godforsaken reason it doesn't include Windows Movie Maker

ALready complaints from the gaming world on Windows 7. Steam is having big time compatability problems, (you have to run Steam in XP mode). Anything pre-vista has to run in XP mode, and the people in UK I work for stated that our new game is not going to be Windows 7 compliant (they too have re-acted to the predicted problems ala Vista intro, and will not patch to Win 7 for at least 6 months.)
Combat Arms will not run on any Windows 7 computers, the online gaming servers are getting flooded with tech assist questions on this "trouble free system".

Got a Steam news page on Windows 7, most games on Steam are having Win 7 issues, my employer sent me PM on thier concerns on Win 7 when I asked them about Win 7 and the project we are working on. And Nexon has a whole page on the attempted fixes on Win 7 issues within the Combat Arms servers. Thier anti hack program refuses to work in Win 7, you have to take the files out and reinstall a patch file manually, and then not 100% guarenteed it will work.

From what I read on the Steam news page is that they are fixing/have fixed most of the issues. I haven't found much on the Nexon problems though, just some problems with Win7 beta.

Both of your complaints are trivial. The first one, the taskbar thing is a big deal...I hated it too. Right-click on the task bar, and click on Properties. Change "Taskbar buttons" to "Never Combine". Problem fixed. I actually prefer "Combine when taskbar is full"...it works best on the netbook, and it has never combined on my desktop, so meh.
Movie maker is not bundled with Windows anymore. It takes a whopping ONE extra download. Go to http://get.live.com, and you can download it as part of the Live Suite. I have not tried it yet, but the new Live version of Movie Maker is supposed to be a lot better than the one bundled with XP or Vista. Also while your there, you can download Live Mail, Live Photo Gallery, so prevent another whiny thread.

Hey anyone having any bluetooth issues with Win7? I have a rocketfish bluetooth mouse that I've used for ages effortlessly with XP and OSX. I'd just turn it on and it worked, now I can't get it to sync with Windows 7 all the time, and when it does it tends to stop working after a restart.

Nope, the bluetooth on my laptop is working great on Windows 7, although I don't use it constantly with a mouse connected. Try running Windows Update to see if there is an updated driver.

I too found the always combine setting annoying the first time I used a W7 computer but I figured that could be changed so I didn't really think much of it. Even if you couldn't disable that, I think it's worth putting up with for the other potential gains of running 7 over XP or Vista.
The second paragraph there reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine last semester when we were reading about W7 and the different versions being sold. I basically brought up the idea that MS could eliminate a lot of bloat by offering only a bare OS with only enough drivers and functionality to let you use the computer and get online with nothing else for a relatively low price (maybe $50 or so). Then you could go to their website to buy the extra functionality and just download it or have them ship a cd if you're old-school. That way those of us who just want a lean, fast OS to let us use the computer can have that without having to pay $100+ for stuff we will likely never use and will just take up space and hurt performance.
Having only one basic version to buy eliminates confusion about whether or not people should be getting Home Basic, Home Premium, etc. However, we came to the conclusion that people just wouldn't be able to handle such an awesome business model. Most people don't have a clue how anything works on their computer and they just want to plug things in and have them work without thinking. And if they can't do that, they get frustrated and give up, blaming MS or the PC vendor for everything even though the steps required may be very simple. It sucks but that's how people are and they ruin it for the rest of us.

Microsoft separated the Live Suite from Windows so they could update those programs on a different schedule than they do with the core OS.
I really dislike the Combine feature on the taskbar because you cannot tell the difference between programs that are running, and those that are just shortcuts to programs that aren't currently running...so it is a legit gripe. But I think it was a little melodramatic to hate Win7 because of it.

I've been running Steam on Windows 7 RC for multiple months now, with no issues.
The problem is when people enable UAC, which is a stupid feature and one I have disabled since I first installed Vista.

Also, if you think 7 was a hastily engineering OS, you clearly haven't been paying attention. Literally millions of people used the RC for the last six months.
Also, it's getting great reviews from everyone.

Also, Steam and all my games work perfectly on Win7. TF2 lagged a
little but a recent update fixed that. By the way, OS, it isn't like

Yeah I can verify this too, I played L4D and the L4D2 demo last night on my mac using win7 just fine.
Just took me forever to get my bluetooth mouse to sync.... because apparently I cant have it synced in OS X and 7....
I used to just sync my mouse in OSX and XP and whichever one was booted would recognize my mouse after a second and a wiggle of the mouse. Now I have to unpair it before I reboot. So weird.

IMO most of the negativity towards Acer stems from stupid users.
Chewp, odd your mouse reacts that way. I had trouble with bluetooth drivers in Vista, I haven't even tried my BT dongle in Win7 though. I don't have any real need for it these days, only used it for my phones but now I have a usb microSDHC reader that transfers much faster than bluetooth.

Everything literally worked out of the box for me, even when using the
64bit version I have zero issues. The one thing that doesn't work is
my fingerprint scanner, but that's because the techs at my school broke the connection when replacing my mobo. Not to mention it boots fast (especially with readyboost), and starts off with only 37 processes. I don't understand all the hate.

Its weird, in windows xp I had GTA, BF2, TF2, CSS, BF:Heroes, Portal, Garys Mod, L4D demo, and more, and still had some space
In windows 7 I have Unreal 3, L4D, L4D2 and only have 6 gigs free. I already got rid of the windows.old file before, and then I visually mapped my partition and all the large files seem to be legit, so I cant figure out where my space went.
