So I was listening to one of the local radio stations morning shows on my way into work and I heard a story about this drunk driver. This lady is driving along a road somewhere up around wherever it was she lived when she called 911 dispatch to report a drunken driver. The dispatcher asked the woman if she was behind the drunk driver. The woman replied "no I am them." She then pulled off the road and waited for the police to show up. She failed all the field tests miserablly and blew a .19, twice the legal limit. The radio stations question was how do you think the courts should handle this one. As far as punishments are concerned I could care less, I just think its hilarious she called 911 to report herself for driving drunk. Atleast no one was hurt in the process of it all.

What an idiot. Why drive if you knew you were drunk? And why not just call a friend to pick you up or just sleep in your car?

Deffinatly. Standard punishment should be given, she knew she was drunk and drove, she may have turned herself in, but she could have killed someone.

I think its only fair she should get standard punishment..............I mean yes she was responsible to call someone. Just not smart enough to think of who she was calling. Still there is no reason for her to be given any slack at all.

You don't get off the hook for turning yourself in.

She still made the decision to drive drunk.

She should have called someone before getting behind the wheel.  Thank you for calling the Police.
Drunks do some goofy things...I had a 19 y/o kid call us from a closed gas station saying that he was drunk and told us where he was.  He got picked up.  A few months later the same kid tore my door handle off my door.  He had gotten in a fight and ran to a random house...a cop's house.  He went to jail again.
None the less, same charges.  I wish more drunks did this.

She was driving drunk AND talking on he cell phone to the cops.  That's a double whammy in some cities/states.

Yes originally I said I could care less mainly because it does not effect me. Though since I have actually thought about it a little bit more I have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair if they were easy on this lady just because she called herself in. She still made the choice to get behind the whell. Dumb on her part.

It's a pet peeve of mine when people say they could care less when really they don't care so they really couldn't care less.

What a retard.  Dumb enough to drive drunk and risk killing somebody else.  Do it and call yourself in is even dumber.  At least it stopped her I guess.
