"An ambulance trust has reviewed its procedures after an obese man died when his stretcher tipped over, the BBC has learned.

Thirty-stone Kenny Williams was being taken to hospital when the accident happened in the street outside his home in Newmarket.

The East of England Ambulance Service has described the issue of overweight patients as a "growing problem". "

I think they stretched the facts with this one, what an obese use of puns.

I'm going to avoid the puns for a second and wonder how just the distance of a stretcher tipping over sideways could kill someone.

Considering how large he is and that he could not use arms or legs to reduce his fall rate, I can see how his own weight could crush organs even with minimal bone breaks. They did not divulge the details, but it sounds like he didn't have the strength to breathe after the stretcher tipped over. The fact that he was bound to it definitely made the situation worse.

A four or five foot fall, not properly stopped or broken, could easily result in severe injuries. 420 pounds falling from four feet up could do a lot of damage to the human body.

Tragic what people are doing to themselves.

"Abortion is not "choice" in America. It is forced and the democrats are behind it, with the goal of eugenics at its foundation."

Yup, he actually said that.

Tragic that more people weren't there to see it.

Its the UK... The corpulent government over there doesn't allow lawsuits based on husky care, or lack thereof.

A fall from a standing position can kill someone, and it happens more then people realize. Add on top of that, he was fat ("bariatric") and he could very well have died from traumatic asphyxia, as his widow claims he was turning blue.

The sad part, aside from him dying is, some ambulance companies who provide beriatric ambulances who are specifically made for obese patients are being sued by those very same patients for "treating them like animals" because the ambulance has a winch in it...
