Hello,
I would like to start by saying that it is the first time I post on a forum and I am sorry in advance if i do something wrong.
I am also a newcomer into the paintball world. I have participated in two woodsball games and I loved it very much. I have no equipment so I recently started to shop for a marker and gear. With some friend's advice and lots of surfing on the web I have bought the X7 Phenom for several reasons that fits perfectly what I want from a marker.
I always like to get the most information possible. So I thought I would come here and ask veterans or poeple that have tried the Phenom for tips and advices.
I have not bought anything else other then my mask . So any sugestion related to anything else would be very much appreciated.

I would suggest a small tank, like a 48/3000 steel HPA air tank, a pod pack and a few pods,
and a cheap neck protector.
Spend some time playing and learning and most of all having fun. Then upgrade as you see fit.
A Phenom for a first marker? lucky bugger

I agree with TinMan. You don't really need a neck protector but if you can find one really cheaply it's not a bad idea. If you don't have it already, camo helps. After you paintball a few more time upgrade your barrel. A CP one-piece barrel is a great barrel and it's only $30. Here's a couple tips for paintballing. Practice: Try to figure out what you're good at. Some are good at shooting, some moving, etc. Then try to work on aspects of your game that you aren't good at. e.g.: If you miss a lot more than you should, go into a battle with half a hopper and no pods. You will conserve your shots and you will be forced to wait for good shots. Exercise. Paintball involves a lot of moving around and you need to be in shape. Don't be afraid of getting shot. This is easier said than done but is probably the main thing that keeps new players from being good. A new player is almost always an easy kill because they will sit in one spot where there is good cover and if you shoot at them they will hide. You can go right up to them as long as you keep shooting. I've heard new players being compared to flat tires. They don't move and they flatten themselves behind cover. Be aggressive. Be smart about it though. There's no reason to walk into the lions den but advancing is extremely important. The main thing though is just to keep playing. You can't get better without playing. Trial and error. |

buj said it well. I will second the notion to get a neck protector though just because I have gotten hit there randomly too many times to not wear one now. Also dont buy into hype over some of the most expensive items. do your research on any given item and buy then. I have asked many questions on this forum and everyone is always happy to help. If you KNOW for sure you love the game, don't get a small hpa tank. If you shoot a lot, the 47/3000 will only last a game.
Also, don't rush out to get camo. I usually wear whatever I have on, which is usually a red jersey. I like the excitement to come to me in the woods, I'm very impacient. Just have fun. Find the style of play you like. The only time I like playing woods is if I can run n gun. The only time I will ever be sneaky and lay down is if I'm tired. -------------

The trick it to go out and play. Before you purchase any accessories, any fancy upgrades, any camo.....go and play. Then, after a few games, decide what you want your marker to look like, and to act like, and upgrade it from there. As far as playing goes, if you go into every single game EXPECTING to get hit, you'll enjoy the game so much more. I've seen too many kids go out in their first game expecting to be Rambo/Elite Sniper, then the first time they get a stinging welt on their arm or back, their hands are in the air and they're back to video games within an hour. You're GOING to get shot, and its GOING to hurt the first few times. In fact, you could play for years straight, and depending where you get shot, its STILL going to hurt. Its all part of the game. Cope with that, and you'll do just fine. A neck protector isn't a bad idea, but not nearly as good an idea as a cup. take a ball to your...uh....pills, and it can ruin your weekend.
