So I started off 2010 by entering into the world of car payments and full coverage insurance.
Just a few hours ago I came home with a 2006 Tiburon SE. It's metallic orange. It's a 6 speed. It's sexy.
I'll post pictures later though it is bone stock and you could just look it up on you own. But those aren't MINE!!!!!!
It's no Viper or Corvette... but it's still damn fun to drive with 185ft/lbs and a limited slip.
Total for note and insurance is only $470 a month. Not too bad.
PICHAS!!!!!

I don't think I could ever justify spending that much on a car. Rent, yes. Car, no.

While the look of the car isn't really my thing, you certainly could have done worse. I'm with Benji, that's exactly why I don't have a car in Vancouver.

nope. 2.7 V6.
I really could have gone without almost $500 a month ... but its what I wanted. eh
$15,207 for it after fee's and taxes. It only has 39,800 miles on it. APR is kinda high at 9.8% but its whatever.
Been driving it all day and its a blast. Bout to head back out again.

172Hp and 185ft/lbs Torque
not much more than the 2.0 I4 but definitely has the torque to make up for it.

40,000 miles. still under factory Powertrain and Bumper to Bumper, as well as the dealers extended warranty. Its also a 2006 model, if it were say a pre-01 i'd be worried, but the quality of Hyundai's has really excelled in the last few years.

Nice pick up ctchofday. I've always liked the second Gen bodies on the Tiburons. Nice clean, simple lines. And yes, Hyundai's reliability rating has shot through the roof these past few years. They're sitting at the cusp of making it HUGE in the US just like Toyota and Honda were back in the early 90's.

But yes! Omg so much fun. I fell in love with it before I even test drove it. Thankfully I live in Georgia where snow/ice happens on the rare occaision of one day out of the year

You said the car was stock. I just put in the year, make and model. I guess price changes depending on the zip code too. It changed +/- $200 with different zip codes. If you didn't know if the car was CPO, then it probably wasn't.
You didn't haggle on the price? What did the extended warranty cost? What does it cover and for how long?

yeah a stock SE V6 which comes with 17" premium wheels, upgraded sound system, sport suspension, abs, alarm/keyless entry, and moon roof.
i got just over 15K for CPO and 14.6K for retail.... either way i still got it for less. And every where else i can find one with similar mileage its being sold for the same around $12K-13K
I got it for near 2K less than blue book. it only came to 15 after taxes and the warranty. Extended warranty was only another 20 a month (1200 total). It covers everything on the vehicle with few exceptions and lasts 4 years.
Is it really that big of a deal?

My brother has had some wierd issues with his Tiburon. If I had to guess, I would say it's a 04/05 and he has had to already had to have some AC repairs done that cost him over $1k. Also keeps having some weird stalling issue that they think is the tranny, but since they can't pinpoint it, or reproduce it, they won't replace it.. Hope you have better luck with yours. I'm always hinky about extended warranties. Saw a special a year or so ago saying how a lot of them were worthless. The insuring companies seem to go out of business often and/or have huge gaping loopholes that keep them from paying out. They said Fidelis has one of the worst reps around. Make sure you read the fine print.
I do like the color though. Hoping to get a new to me car sometime later in the year myself.

My 98 Ford Escort SE with Sketchers sponsorship could beat anything on the road or in space.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Oh ya man, that spoiler was so big he had to take it straight from the city park. It's gotta be big to get all that FWD power to the ground.

Lol, to those who think they can take me, in invite you to take a trip up and run me. My 68 chevelle is DIEING to be ran again. Im sure I can take you ALL in the 1/4 mile.
And i couldnt win that race OPBN, the chevelle gets 5mpg. |
What are the specs on the Chevelle's engine, tranny and rear end? Wondering how it would stack up against my brother's '67 Camaro he's been restoring. |
Big block 490 (edelbrock intake and carb (800cfm), world heads, eagle rods ect, comp cams (thats all i can think of off the top of my head, if you want more i can go deeper)
700R4 Tranny with shift kit ect.
Stock rear end for now (gonna replace it this summer)
Like I said, I can go deeper if you want, im just kinda lazy right now. |
Wait-you put all that money into building a 490 stroker, aluminum heads, etc etc and you have a stock rear end? I hope it's a posi, and at least a .373...

^thats why i would put my money on stormys brothers camaro. it doesnt make sense to create that much horsepower and transfer it to a stock rear end

I've seen crazier. My dad had a Hemi Satellite with .325's in it, but it was more of a highway car.
I won't even keep the stock rear end gears on my V6 Stang...I'm picking up a .373 posi for it ASAP.
