Anyone else see it? I thought it was terrible. The whole religious side of the movie came out of no where, I had no idea going into the movie. If i wasn't Christian I would have felt totally snuck up on by this. As a Christian though its gross and kind of offensive. He was basically powered by god to kill a bunch of guys, ignore a women getting raped and killed, then at the very end they compare the bible to Mozart and Shakespeare.

Anyway, I mostly made this topic because I really want to hear a non Christians opinion of the movie. Did it not bother you at all, or was it way to preachy?

I was about to post a few verses about being empowered through god to kill people, and some verses on rape, but I'll resist the urge. Anywho, I was going to see the movie earlier this week, but my friends girlfriend was in a car accident that night, so plans got changed. Confused

God works in mysterious ways....

And no offense Frogman, but you really were blindsided that a movie called "The Book of Eli" had biblical references or content? Really?

Its just an example of Hollywood trying to cash in on "christian" movies... When they have no clue...

Are you daft? The entire premise of the story is that Jesus was born 30 years ago, not 2000. A premise based entirely on the main character of the Bible. The Bible being a main component of the Christian faith.

Maybe they didnt advertise that point much, but seriously, even the title "The Book of Eli" suggests other Christian books such as the Book of Mathew or Book of Genesis.

Yeah... Heaven forbid Hollywood should happen to make a profit by providing entertainment that's to some degree derivative of something else.

As an aside, I may watch The Life of Brian later. Heretical entertainment is awesome.

You should know me well enough to realize that I'd have said pretty much the same thing to anyone posting what you did. I'll always mock someone posting an opinion of a movie they haven't seen, regardless of who it is or what movie.

I always love how the American public can watch movies, listen to music, and read books containing the vilest forms of innuendos, blood and gore, and general evils, yet if someone "sneaks" Christian ideals on them they're outraged.

Taking into consideration, of course, that I enjoy the violent, evil movie content, in fact generally the more violent the better...I just can't deal with the hypocrisy that exists in this country regarding Christianity.

You're describing Christianity 200 years ago.

I thought it was a terrific movie. And as others have said, if you were blindsided by the Christian aspect, wow.

I really want to see "Crazy Heart."

Even more so now that Jeff Bridges has won something for his role in it.

I don't know, its kind of embarrassing I guess. I just watch one action movie trailer in post apocalyptic world with swords and guns, and just didn't give it any more thought then that. And im sure if I did that, so did thousands of other people.

You went to a movie without having any clue what it was about? And you then title it as a bad movie because it was snuck up on you?

I saw Hostel 2 when it came in theaters. A guy stormed out in the first 10 minutes proclaiming "You guys are sick for watching this crap".

You can look at the movie anyway you want. When the bad guy says he wants the book, so he can control the people. I'm pretty sure that a slash on religion. Or how everyone burned the bibles after the war. Because religion was the reason for the start of the war. (Look at our current situation)

I liked the movie for the killing and laughs. Screw the religion part.

How on earth does his iPod still work, and how does he only have to charge it once a month or so. Honestly....

Also, Life Of Brian is winner.

He carried around some car battery or something. More like a golf-cart battery, but that's what he used.
