I recently received a Tippmann Prolite in a trade and ever since I received it I've been having trouble getting the velocity above the 230's. Earlier today I completely rebuilt the gun and oiled everything.

I've been constantly tinkering with the velocity screw, but haven't been able to exceed 250fps.

Any idea how I can get this gun up and running?

Thank you

The prolite is an extreamly old marker. i dont know anything about it. however it looks like the SL-II pump. you can buy a hammer spring for the sl-II  and that may help. What kind of gas are you running, CO2, HPA, or NIT. also if CO2, are they 12 grams? if 12 grams then no matter what you do the volicity will never get abouve 250. heck, your lucky just to get it up to 250

Uh . . . no.

The SL 68-II hammer spring is nowhere near the same as the prolite mainspring.  The first thing I would check is if the mainspring had been replaced with a spring from a newer marker which is a common mistake that is made.  The prolite mainspring was the same as the one used in the 98 and A5 but it was approximately 7 inches long.  (It is only 4 and 3/8 inches long in the newer markers.)

lol Thank you for the help. I'm using various high pressure air tanks such as Ninja, Crossfire, and PMI. All have the same result.

The Prolite spring is certainly the original, and is significantly longer and stronger than the current A5 springs that I have. I measured the Prolite spring and it came out to 6 inches long. I suppose I should buy a new drive spring to solve the problem.

If it's only six inches long it was either cut at one time or has compressed with age and use.  Replacing it would be the first thing I would try.

One other thing you could try would be using CO2 on the marker.  Some of the older Tippmanns just work better on it.  Keep in mind a lot of these markers came out before constant air.

This is a place where someone with a better memory than mine needs to help out:  I know the pro-lites could run of liquid CO2 but I can't remember if they required it.  (I don't think they did.)
