All in all, my life isn't bad, so this won't be an emo post or anything.

Frankly, I've just been wanting to get organized lately. Yet for some reason, I can't seem to get started. It all has to start with cleaning my room, and that by itself is no easy task. As I'm sure some of y'all can imagine, I've got more useless stuff than I can even hope to rationalize. I honestly think if I can just clean my room, I can get the ball rolling, and take care of the other little things after that.

Basically, I need to get rid of a LOT of <poopy> that I've got. I need to thin my paintball stuff (at least I can make some money out of that), and I need to just throw away everything else. Problem is, I'm a sentimental person. While all of my useless junk is just that, it's stuff I don't really want to get rid of. I also don't want to pay for storage. I'm thinking of shoving it in a box and attic-ing it. Might be the way to go there...

After that, I can prioritize my life. I feel I'm still mentally stuck in my middle-school years. I still have toys. Like legit toys. I never "play" with them, but dangit, i don't wanna toss 'em. It's still time to get my rear in gear. After I get physically and mentally organized, I can take care of the other things I need to do. Work on my car and motorcycle, find a better job, move out on my own, graduate college, get a career, and eventually die. You know, the usual. My problem is, I've got a linear mindset, and while it would be logical to do many things at once, I tend to work at one thing and move on to the next.

Also, my many ridiculous hobbies. I've tried MANY things, and so far the only thing I can seem to stick with is paintball. I have no complaints there, but there's so much out there that I still want to do. Mountain biking is next on my list, BTW.

Oh well. What was the point of this thread? I dunno. My dad told me it would be a good idea to write out what I need to do. I think he was right. I chose to fill forum internets tubes because I like you guys, and also like wasting your time.

So thanks for listening. Joke's on you for reading this thread.

Skip to the last step and stop worrying about all the little details ;)

I can't imagine how hard this is for you. I lucked out and my parents sold their house, took all my junk 1200 miles away and the new owners wouldn't let me stay. So I went to college, got expelled and became instantly more focused on stuff like "where does food come from" and "where can I sleep besides my car?". Thankfully my parens promised to kill me if I came home and years later I did get my stuff back so I could ebay it all and buy a mig welder.

If it makes you feel any better, I reached that same point last year. It's perfectly normal reaction to be dissatisfied with your life, and constructive self criticism goes a long way.

I wished I'd have arrived at it earlier, before being 23 with very little college and living with my sister. But once you get in gear, optimism feels good, and the crappy stale feeling goes away.

If you are keeping toys thinking they are will be worth something some day, skip to 20 years from now and throw the crap away. I hung onto stuff for years, moving it from place to place before finally pitching most of it. Unless it is basically in pristine condition, as in, never played with. It isn't worth squat. I held on to GI Joes, Erector sets, Legos, books, Matchbox cars etc. until wayyyyy too long thinking they would either be worth something, or my kids would want to play with them. Well guess what? None of it was worth anything and my three daughters had little interest in playing with my 30 year old raggedy GI  Joes. About the only things I have continued to keep are my Matchbox cars, which sit in the attic in a sealed box, and my Legos and Lincoln Logs which we actually pull out and play with sometimes. Purge it.

its best just to pitch stuff now, if not you will end up like my grandmother with just completely random junk for 65 years. it might be hard to do it at first but once you get started you will understand why you need to get rid of it.

anyways enjoy your little epifany(sp).

Throw your crap away, your grandchildren will hate you for it if you don't.   Over the past several years, my dad, brother, and I have been clearing out my grandmas attic after my grandpa died.  We have taken well over 1.5 TONS of scrap and garbage out of that attic including old toys, old windows, bags of mulch, cans of oil from the 70's, oil lanterns, an dehumidifier from the 50's, etc.  All of it crap.

Weren't you paying attention?! Sell your transformers and get a mig welder

I guess it's fine to live at home as long as you aren't a trekkie or into D&D. The first thing I got rid of was my mini fridge (when I was expelled). I let my roommate keep it and took his girl friend. Not a bad trade for my future wife, but it was a spanking fridge.

(pm me if you have a fridge you want to trade)

Then mail it to me! LOL

I remember a looong time ago, you were like "OMG, I realized I own a Promaster that I bought and tossed under a pile of crap! Its awesome" and I was a wee bit jealous. I wish I bought one when they were passing them out for pocket change.

Poor ICD. I think I have a hopper from them.
