So I was at the firestation yesterday and they are joined with a police department. The PD was giving one of their new recruits a certification course on the Taser, so they also invited a new firefighter to do it to so he knew proper barb removal. They also invited me.
Went through the course learning about the taser, then we got tased ourselves. Afterword we were put in a scenario where the instructor would attack us and we'd have to tase him, reload and tase him again while he was fighting, tackling us to the ground and trying to tase us with out own taser... while he was in a pretty tase-resistant suit.
Video exist, but I don't have it yet. Depending on how wimpy it makes me look I'll have it up sometime next week, but I DO have pictures.
The longest 5 seconds of my life.

Did the prong thingies hurt?
On a related note, I saw a guy from my high school football team get tazed. He was a big guy, 350 or so(though he was just fat) and it dropped him like a ROCK

You could just barely feel them the moment they were shot in, but by that time you were being shocked so the sharps we the least of your worries.
Them being taken out, however, was one of the best feelings ever.

Right behind the current stopping, I'm guessing.
That doesn't look all that fun.
But hey, now you know how to tase people!

I thought I was going to see my cousin get tased today. Sadly, I was let down.
Stupid cops walk around with their taser out and don't even use it? What the hell is this, where is the brutality? DAMN YOU!

I think I'm going to have to hear more about the situation to find out if this was or was not the right thing to do.

Not real Marpat. Didn't see any embedded EGAs in the pattern.

Naw, it's real MARPAT. He was apparently in the Corps for 17 years and left as an 0369. Then again I didn't really care for looking for the EGA either.

Fun facts you learn when writing about crime long enough:
1) Taser is a brand name that has been normalized much like Kleenex. It's made by Taser International Inc. 2) Thusly, it is a noun, not a verb. In a news story, someone can be shocked by a Taser, but they cannot be "tased." 3) The non-brand-specific term is "electroshock gun."

You say this in every taser thread GRRR.
Though maybe it was just one other thread and I am wrong.

Tase is a word in Merriam-Webster, and Taser is a word in both Webster and dictionary.com... that's enough for me. And if I right click it, I can put in in Firefox's dictionary! Screw Oxford English!
What irks me is when people call stun-guns as "Tasers", or say a taser is a stun gun. Two totally separate items doing different things.
But, no matter what they're called, they still hurt like a mother.

If we use it enough, it will become a legit word.
