Ok, so I haven't played PB in years. Last marker I owned was a custom pro when they first came out. Recently a fellow car-club member decided to part with his 98 Custom, and I had a spare shift-light he needed. We traded straight across, and now I'm trying to figure out what all is done to this marker. I still don't do PB, I just figured it'd be fun to get a new marker and maybe get back in to this stuff. So far I've been able to identify... -Tippmann expansion chamber -Unknown-brand rear-cocking bolt -Tippmann R/T kit -Unknown-brand double-trigger kit without trigger guard, original owner said it was adjustable but I'm seeing no way to adjust it. -Some sort of fittings and 1/8" air line down the right side of the marker, one of the fittings says "Clippard" on it. Part of the R/T kit? -Dye Boomstick -Unknown-brand drop down&forward bottle bracket -CP bottle adapter, has a twist-knob on it, no idea what it does. I'm used to just the basic adapters that come with the marker. Pics...      Can get more pics/info if needed. It's been years since I've played with a Tippmann, and this thing fires wayyy faster than I remember them being able to fire. Guess I've been out of this stuff for too long. Some other questions... The body of this marker is pretty beat up, not terribly but it's not very visually appealing either. Anything I can do about this? Does Tippmann sell just the shells for these markers? This thing sat in a box for several years from what the last owner said. I'm safely assuming every single o-ring in it needs to be replaced. What should I do for all the threaded connections? I used teflon tape back in the day, that stuff still good to use? Any other upgrades worth doing to this thing? Anything I can do to cut down on the amount of air this thing consumes? I'm assuming the R/T kit ramps up the air usage, is that false? NObama '12 |

You've pretty much ID'd everything right that I can tell. The know on the on/off does exactly that, turns the asa on and off. Nice feature in that you don't have to remove the tank to degass. IMO, I would look for a trigger guard. Lots of places sell replacments. You might also want to consider replacing the macro line if you plan on using CO2. The two didnt mix well for me and I have heard others say the same. As for the O-rings, open the thing up and inspect them. if they look good and you get no leaks when you gas up, leave em. I would disassemble and clean/oil things though. Use some sort of marker oil or Hoppes #9 gun oil. Don't use WD40. Teflong tape is fine for the fittings. The RT is adjustable. The fitting on the right side of the grip has a small screw that can be turned to tune the RT. They do sell replacement recieved halves, but honestly, the cost is more than the marker is probably worth. You can send it somewhere to be stripped and powdercoated, but again, the cost is pretty high. Duracoat works well, but again... Personally, I would pull it apart, clean it with a good degreaser and grab some rattle can paint and go to town.

Are there any places that sell a braided hose + fittings that would be a direct replacement to that macro line? Will the braided hose cause any problems in regards to flexibility between the CP valve and expansion chamber?
Also, what are some good online shops to buy replacement parts/upgrades/etc from? In the FAQ, there's plenty of sites listed but most of them cease to exist since it's been 6+ years. I'm just looking to maybe get the Tippmann deluxe parts kit, an HPA/Nitrogen tank + regulator, and maybe a rocket-cock setup since I'm not really a fan of this rear-cock setup currently installed on the marker. There's also some other supplies I'll be needing, like a mask and some pods+carrying pouch, etc. I'm probably going to have the shell bead-blasted and powdercoated. Cost isn't much, I'm a car guy so I've got a buddy to do this stuff for me. Usually it's valve covers or intake piping, so he's going to be a bit surprised when I drop off a paintball gun, haha. Based on size, this should only run me about $15-20.

For all the air-line fittings, specifically the ones for the R/T along the right side of the marker, can I use red loctite? When I go to make any adjustments, the whole fitting will loosen, it's really easy to remove from the marker by hand which I'm assuming shouldn't be happening. I'm sure air would leak from those as they sit.
I've been looking at that Tippmann low-pressure kit, and it's apparently compatible with my R/T kit...but is it compatible with my expansion chamber? If so, would this be an upgrade worth looking in to? I've seen posts about people running them with the R/T and having no issues, combined with a regulator they were seeing low air consumption and virtually no spikes in velocity. This would really cut down on paint chopping. A friend also mentioned that I should get the conversion parts kit to make my gun E-Grip compatible, the kit is like $16ish. He said get the rampage board with that, so I can have semi/auto/ramp setting. Would this be incompatible with any of my mods, or any of the mods I'm wanting to do? Or should I just stay mechanical?

NO NO NO NO NO NO! NEVER use red Loctite on a paintball gun! That stuff is akin to welding the fitting in place. You most likely won't be able to get it back off unless you break it. However, I do suggest blue Loctite. It keeps things from wiggling and seals the threads.
