A .22 made out of wood...
Either you have become an assassin, or a hijacker. Either way, please don't kill yourself. If it works, you have to PM me the entire design.

I, for one, can envision no way in which this can possibly go wrong.

Dibs on middle fingers if removed in manufacturing accident. (That way I can "give some one the finger" and still have several left over.)

I really want to encourage you to do it, because I want to see the hilarious post that you'll have to type up* after it blows up in your face** But, because I feel like that could implicate me; my official, on the books advice, "Don't do it, nothing you ever try works anyways, and this is just going to end up bad."
*With your nose, because you won't have any hands left. **Sorry, it couldn't be avoided.

It is way easier to make a pistol out of ABS plastics and 1/4in high tensile ceramic. ABS beads heated to liguid and poured into a sand casting for body. 1/4 in .25in external diameter high tensile ceramic piping (available at Ace Hardware)the standard for .22 'zip' guns for generations. Rubber bands for spring tension and a rod guided block/slide for the rim fire .22.
'In the Line of Fire' weapon the the John Malkovich charactor made is not hard at all.

When building a firearm by hand becomes a good idea, you know your shop doesn't have good ventilation.

im using a fairly hard steel wrapped up in an aluminum case... i have a feeling that if it does blow up it wont do much... unless i have really bad luck... and i do...
a zipgun would be easy, but they are legally AOWs so it would require a 200$ tax stamp, or 10 years in jail if caught/convicted and its not worth either to me... although now im thinking about casting a plastic frame and saving my plate for something else...
i really want to do something like the 1st generaton british pipe gun, but in semi auto. i figure il try a .22lr and then go from there, i would love to design a few different guns that anyone can make from parts at a local hardware store...

you're dealing with a relatively low-pressure round, as long as your technical skills are an iota less retarded than your politics and debating skills, you'll be fine. I'd suggest a derringer or something more simple for a first gun, but I know a guy who made a .22 rifle secretly in a HS shop using pipe and cap-gun guts that worked until he decided to destroy it before his mom/the authorities found out. Wear eyepro and fire it with a string for the first few shots. Observe the cases for bulging/cracking etc before holding the thing to fire it.

i changed the design of the grip from the P22 style to a 1911 style (using a paintball grip as a template)
rough sketch of the grip, drilled holes to speed up the cutting process. got both ends done and snapped my only hacksaw blade while rounding the corner
once im done im going to bolt them together and shape the outside then drill holes where i need them for the internals. then i can start hollowing out the gun...
