I kind of have a problem with the police showing up merely because his girlfriend was annoyed about him being drunk in his own home. From the article: "Police were called to his home by his girlfriend, who had complained about him being drunk last November. " -------------

If the police are called, they pretty much need to respond. Nowhere in the article did it mention disturbing the peace before he tried to winky-whack* the cop. While I know the police have to respond, it sounds to me like a witchy controlling girlfriend who was just annoyed kicked off the entire situation.** Instead of giving up drinking, he should have got a new girlfriend. *Otherwise known as pickle-pummeling and sausage-slapping. **Based on experiences with an ex-wife who thought the chain of command and local police existed solely for the purpose of allowing her to screw with me*** when she didn't get her way. (Both before and after the divorce) ***Fortunately for me, she wasn't smart enough to support/avoid getting tripped up in her own lies so I managed to avoid apprehension/military repercussions. (Not for her lack of trying though.) -------------
