A while back, in a sudden moment of ill-thought-out and unfiltered smart-ass behavior, I used the "get in the kitchen and make me a sammich" line on my wife.*  (Complete with hand on hip, other arm extended with finger pointing at the kitchen and a steely-eyed stare.)  I got a dirty look (with a little "stunned" thrown in for good measure) but that seemed to be the end of it.  All things considered, I thought I got off light.  What I neglected to take into account is that she doesn't forget; she just bides her time.

Today I was preheating a pan for breakfast and reading the paper, which was laying on the kitchen table.  I turn away for just a second and the paper is gone.  She took it to the living room and was reading it on the couch.

The following conversation ensued:

Mack:  Hey, I was reading that.

Mack's Wife:  You're not supposed to be reading . . . you're supposed to be cooking me breakfast.  (Accompanied by a narrowing of the eyes and a tilt of her head towards the kitchen.)

I cooked breakfast and my mancard is in the mail to the DMV.**

^^^ Input is obviously from someone who as never been married.  (And, in my defense, I refrained from either saluting or saying "yes ma'am."

I completely understand amigo. 'Twas but a joke.
(although it would have been funnier if you did salute WHILE saying "yes ma'am.")

^^^ Basic eggs and bacon.

Crispy fried bacon first then cooked eggs in some of the grease.  Tasty, but probably not good for my cholesterol.

yeah, but you only live once. i am a sucker for 6 strips of bacon or more, and some eggs over easy. whole wheat toast of course, i wouldn't be an American if i wasn't being serious but ironic.

I gotta say, I don't particularly love bacon.

Start most days with eggs (scrambled or hard boiled), potatoes or a bagel with peanut butter, and about half the time three sausages.  Breakfast is the best meal of the day.

It should have gone like this:

Mack:  Hey, I was reading that.

Mack's Wife:  You're not supposed to be reading . . . you're supposed to be cooking me breakfast.  (Accompanied by a narrowing of the eyes and a tilt of her head towards the kitchen.)
Mack: Well, you're not supposed to be on the couch . . .  you're supposed to be in the bedroom waiting for me.
