I suspect that checking intersections in NJ would find a lot of cases like this where the light changes sooner than it should. Glad to see somebody making the effort to expose this stuff.

P.S. The stopping for pedestrians law has changed in NJ.

I'm assuming they might actually start giving people tickets for not stopping when pedestrians are in their half of the crosswalk.  My mom thought it was important enough to send me an e-mail to their website describing the change.

I drive like 3 months a year.

Good for him.  Too bad he is probably a dirty, selfish, immoral, baby-killin', heathen -  one of them there darn tootin' Atheists (only 14.3% of mathematicians believe in God).  If he were a God fearin' man who loves 'Murica like me, my pappy and my gran-pappy before him, this man would use those there God-given skills to help others, rather than just himself, perhaps by showing that other lights around the city, not just the one that concerned him, were messin' up.  Just more proof that scientists are tryin' to take over MAH 'Murica.

That is such a poorly written article, and why does it matter that hes a mathematician? He used a stop watch, probably the least scientific way he could measure those times. Hell, he measured it being off by .7 seconds? The human response time is almost .2 seconds, and I'm sure there is a crap load of error in there.

Actually, there's error on both ends, so it's probably more accurate than you think.  Furthermore, he could just go out and get a video camera to show that it's off.  Frames don't lie.
