Going to Ohio University.

They offered to waive my tuition and got me a job for $9,750 for three quarters writing newsletters for the Department of Osteopathic Medicine Research.

So yeah, go Bobcats:

PM me, I'll gladly swap numbers.

Also, the place I'm looking at living is a town house in a little town called "The Plains," Ohio.

I imagine you're going to hate Ohio after living in Florida all your life, but congratulations on the amazing opportunity.

Aww, I looked up where Ohio University is and its on the eastern half of Ohio.  If it was closer to Cincinnati I would have visited next year.

Anyways, congrats on them waiving tuition and getting paid.

God, you are easy. Don't you feel guilty in not 'buying' your education like your peers. And a 'indentured servant ' job to boot in the deal. Good to go....I guess.

Life is a series of breaks, some bad, some good, it is the guilt you will feel later when you have to explain your methods to someone.

Ohio...true fly-over country./

Are you serious OS?

A scholarship =/= socialism.

A job because he's proven himself to be a good writer =/= slavery.

What I'm trying to say is this; How in all hells would he feel guilty because he worked his ass off in order to be a desired grad student for four years, and is now being rewarded for it?

Don't worry. I thought it was funny. It was way too over-the-top to be something you would say legit. Wink Now, if it was FE...

But you are right. All it took was someone flashing the cash for me to really make a decision.

That and the fact that everyone in the program has been over-the-top friendly and outreaching to me.

Driving when I finally go.

The person I will be living with - My best friend and fellow journalism student - will be moving our stuff, as her dad has a tow-behind closed hauler meant for race cars.

I'm going to be living in a town house in a city apparently called "The Plains."

Have fun with that.  Also, I fail horribly at geography - I was thinking Ohio was at least slightly farther west.  I thought perhaps your journey would take you near my city, but 'tis not so - you would have to take a 2 hour detour.  Oh well.

Wow, 14 hour drive in front of you. If you need a place to stop 3/4 of the way through, I could give my folks a ring and have them put you up for the night when you pass through Charleston, WV.

Oh!!!! And this mean's you'll be able to try Tudor's Biscuit World!!! AWESOMESAUCE!

When I moved to Ohio in 94, I was excited to finally have a pro team to root for.

I wish someone had warned me... They are in a rough patch... It's a really big rough patch.

Chad is pretty classic though. A friend of mine got his "hall of fame" jacket that he threw into the crowd... I keep telling her to sell it on ebay.

I like Ocho Cinco a lot.

Not only is the guy a really talented (probably Hall of Fame caliber) wideout, he knows he is getting millions of dollars to play what amounts to a glorified version of a child's game, and thus, has some fun with it.

Try being a Raiders fan. At least you get to look FORWARD to the draft instead of dreading it.

Hell, a few years ago when we had Trent Green, Jared Allen, Priest Holmes, Dante Hall, etc., we kicked some ass. We had the worst defense in the league except for Jared Allen - destroyer of men. But consistently returning kick offs for touchdowns almost every week was insane. Then Herm came along and everything died.
