When it comes time to finally ditch the hand-me-down dishware that mom and dad passed off to you for your college apartment, I highly suggest you invest in some Homer Laughlin http://www.hlchina.com/fiestaretail.htm - Fiesta Ware . This stuff really and truly is the greatest. I convinced Erin to let me register for it for our wedding and we haven't been sorry yet!

For one thing, it's been in production since the dinosaurs roamed the earth, so you'll never have to worry about not being able to get it. Secondly, most of the colors will match up and compliment each other within the same tone-range, so mixing and matching is no big deal. Finally, they used to use Uranium oxide in their red and orange fiesta ware glazes, so if you get a hold of some of the older stuff, it'll glow under a black-light (but is perfectly safe to eat off of). Stuff's durable too, we've yet to break a dish.

Anyway, it's the shizzle, you should buy it, or register for it, or whatever.

The proper response when your significant other mentions what kind of dishware you want is...

Whatever...

Dude really? Here is a true tip. If it is INside the house, let her decide. If it is the garage or basement. It's all you.

Man, you sound like a cook or something...

I've just been really impressed with the stuff. I remembered how many sets of crap dinnerware I went through when I moved out on my own and thought I'd just save some of the guys here some money. That's all.

All kidding aside, my sister has Fiesta ware, and it really is good stuff.

I'm a fan of it because of the wide range of choice it appears they have. I'm a dork about colours and such

I've been married almost 3 years and just found out last month that we have 'good' dishware.

In all seriousness, I respect you and your opinions enough that I read everything you have to say about anything.

The chance for a joke was just too tempting in this case.

SSOK,

Erin is reading "Metro 2033" By Dmitry Glukhovsky

I just finished reading "ICBM" by G. Harry Stein and am now reading "Wasteland: Tales from the apocalypse" while waiting for "Moscow 2042" by Vladimir Vonovich to get transfered to my local wing of the Fairfax County Public Library.

Yes I butchered ingles. I go to a tech school, so I dont need to make grammar good. All I need to do it make pretty engineering drawings and perform math problems no human will ever use, unless one is trying to open a time rift.

Secondly, Tallen, dont lie. You're both reading the book Cosmo reccomended.

We've got a full set of Mikasa "Pure Red" which is rather nice to look at, but we're never going to get around to using it before we have our own home and start hosting holiday dinners there.

Which is precisely why we haven't used ours. I don't know what brand name is attached to it, but it was given to us by some of Kim's family members who seemingly have nothing to do but spend money. Its very nice stuff, but we've never had the occasion to use it, and somehow I even managed to miss packing it when we moved into the new apartment.

You do learn quite a bit about this stuff when you're forced to do a wedding registry.

What is this dish-ware stuff you're going on about?  Is that what all that metal stuff is in one of my cabinets?  If so, the only piece I concern myself with is the one that's moderately round and deep, in which I cook my Ramen Noodles.  I thought the rest were just for show or to be used as an impromptu drum kit.

Now you're telling me there are different categories for kitchen stuff?  I didn't know the woman-area was so complex!

Seriously though, I facepalmed when I realized my faux pas.  Clearly I need to work on my reading comprehension skills.
