It seems like I need to update my music library. I figured this thread could help everyone find a new song or two so why not?
Famous songs or not, list some favorites. I've had a lot of songs play at work lately that are older, but were popular and I have no clue what they are. It's frustrating when I get home and I can't think of the lyrics to google.
If you know some obvious semi-famous ones, toss them down too. I was brainwashed to Rap for a while. People in college finally play a blend.
Some songs I never skip:
Drops of Jupiter
Meet Virginia - Train
Knock you down - Keri Hilson
Iris- Goo Goo Dolls
Scar tissue- Red hot chili peppers
Dynamite- Taio Cruz
All the right moves / Stop and stare - One Republic
American Pie - Don Mcleon
Free Fallin - Tom Petty
Be like that- 3 Doors Down
Richman- 3oh3!
Forever- Chris Brown
Quick run through the playlist.

Well, here lately I discovered the Live version of "Life Without You" from Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step album. The solo is amazing.
Otherwise-
Creedence Clearwater-Hey Tonight, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Susie Q, and pretty much anything else they ever did.
The Black Keys-Grown So Ugly
The White Stripes-Anything they ever did, but mainly Jolene, Ball and Biscuit, Black Math, and Astro
Shinedown-Simple Man
The Misfits-Hybrid Moments
Social Distortion-Prison Bound, Ring of Fire
Tom Petty-Saving Grace
Kenny Wayne Shepherd-King's Highway
Down-Bury Me in Smoke
Jonny Lang-Good Morning Little Schoolgirl
Jeff Buckley-Hallelujah
Not very many obscure hits, but that's a few that I've been playing.

Of all the badass, classic, singalong stuff Mike Ness has done, these are the only ones you can come up with? Prison Bound is great, and it's a mean cover of Ring of Fire, but that's it?

I was under the impression he was just looking for a basic direction to go in, so I was pointing him to SD. Most definately not the finest / extent of his catalog though, for sure.
Same with the Black Keys. Their whole discography is very worthy of listen, and on Distortion / The Keys, they're both better live than on album.

Yes. I'm actually a huge Audioslave fan, I've got pretty much every song they ever did. Notsomuch Soundgarden, and for sure not Chris Cornell's solo career.
I heard Shadow on the Sun in Collateral in the scene where the wolf walks across the road, and I've been hooked ever since. Michael Mann's movies have a way of hypnotizing you with mellow music and city night scenes.

I've always dug Gnarls Barkley's sound, their lead has a great mellow voice. Who's Gonna Save My Soul Now is one of the nicest sounding R&B songs I've heard in a while.
Speaking of QOTSA, some other great songs by them-
Song for the Dead, Like a Drug, No One Knows, God is in the Radio, and the Sky is Falling.
Eagles of Death metal is a great side project of QOTSA that has some pretty chilled out music as well.
And I had completely forgotten about Modest Mouse, but some great stuff by them-
Whale Song, Dramamine, Float On, etc etc.

I love Cee Lo's voice, and he's a great rapper as well. And if anyone is a fan of Danger Mouse, check out his mixtape with MF Doom, DangerDoom.
And I can't believe I forgot Jay Electronica in my list. Notable tracks by him are "When The Levees Broke" and "Exhibit C".

Like all of these songs. My directly related additions would include Giving Up The Gun by Vampire Weekend, Make It Wit Chu by Queens of the Stone Age and Time to Pretend by MGMT.
Also, I have to say Electric Feel and Make It Wit Chu are some of the better babymaking songs of recent music (that I pay attention to).
One unrelated suggestion:
Animal by Miike Snow.

Oh, I'm going to have to add:
The Pogues - And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.
It's a pretty good cover of probably one of the most depressing songs ever.
