Was on the Ohio Pike (I80/90)@2130 stopped at a service plaza. Two busses role in (I am parked by the bus parking with my pick up and trailer), and I was just nappin. Out of the busses pours what I would call 'street people' wearing SEIU Blue T-Shirts, my guess was a returning 'crowd' from the DC rally of Socialist and Communist Party Supported Democrats (the one where the nutjob signs never made the news, unlike any Tea Party Rally, or Glenn Beck Rally where the few were portrayed as the norm by our unbiased media).
I had to go in and use the 'facilities' and then I went to Mickey D's to get a drink and there were groups of these fine upstanding Democrat representatives counting pennies and change hoping to have enough for whatever, a real pitifull sight to see.
I hope they had great return trips to downtown Detroit or Chicago, but it was very indicative of the stuff you never see on the news on the status and games being played.
BTW when towing a lightweight trailer with a 800+pound Harley on one side and a 250lb Dirt bike on the other DO NOT look in the mirrors, you really do not want to know whats going on back there at 65+.

I can honestly say I didn't know about the second Washington thing until the day before when I read something about it on FARK. Wicked bad PR. I may think Beck is a huckster, but the guy knows how to promote something. I've only seen a random scattering of news about it too, mostly pointing out how small the attendance was.
On the second point: Hauling things is not a fun experience. I've expressed this sentiment before, but hauling a fully loaded U-HAUL pull-behind with a six-cylinder Tucson through West Virginia is for the birds.

That implies that others usually call this select subset of persons something else. So what, pray tell, is a 'street person' in terms of what they are usually called?

Irony! Don't you always go on and on and on, along with FE, about the fine moral character of Christian Republicans and how morally depraved us Communist, Social, Atheist Liberals are?
Why is it, then, that instead of helping out your fellow man with a few dollars--something that is not only morally right, but is demanded in your religious book--you judge, belittle and insult them--something that is morally reprehensible and strictly forbidden in your religious text--on an internet forum?

probably not. at 65+ they tend to fall off the trailers and get stuck in the grills of the tractor trailers that are following you. Its funny, and a little bit sad.

Learned a long time ago when I drove a truck with doubles or triples not to lok in the mirrors, you do not want to know what is going on back there. "wiggle wagons" are a trip to drive, key point is to ensure tractor is always going faster then trailers.
The couple times I looked back at the trailer this trip and seeing it 'dancing' in the lane as it bounced along our fine highway system I shuttered and went on not looking back.
Now reflecting on the 'street people' comment, I can not believe that these people were actual SEIU union members, and they were a diverse group. The state of cleanliness was an issue, where the t-shirt was the only 'presentable' piece of clothing on many. I just feel the organizer just rounded up these people off the streets, issued them a t-shirt and a bus seat. THe claims from this event come no where near matching the evidense of numbers, and having to ship in numbers is in itself a questionable political act.

Ah. Also, I agree that rounding up and shipping in is questionable. The original post came across a bit differently.

Right, because everyone at Beck's rally(which people actually knew about) were from D.C. No one got on a bus together to go.
You still failed to mention how being short on cash is a problem.

It goes back to our protestant work ethic which is the foundation of capitalism and all that is great in this nation...?
Essentially, it means that God does not favor them.
(I'm not saying I agree or disagree, I'm just saying that this is the Christian belief).

You're definitely reaching on that.
Unless you mean hardcore right-wing Christians.
In that case, they may actually believe that. I don't know.

It amazes me how the youth here is all ready to pile on any right cause or mention, but readily go to the defense of the left.
News media has mentioned that this rally was a contrived event, where to fill numbers the 'machine' drafted people to fill the busses and the event. The numbers could not have come close if this was a transport yourself event. Yes Beck rally mambers took busses, but were not 'drafted' given a t-shirt and sent.
And the penny pinching at the service plaze was to me an unjust act by the 'recruiters' of the left who put them on these busses, and did not really care about the logistics of feeding these people, one the video and arguements were presented, these people were no longer an asset and basically abandoned by the 'Union' the supposedly they represented, and the Democrat party (with the assistance of the Socialists and Communist allies) who just used them.
It is not difficult Jmac to make this claim if you too also saw this first hand. These people were 'Union' members as much as I am a polititian. The level of personal hygiene and dress other than a clean SEIU t-shirt was a fact not an assumption. I actually felt sorry for the bus driver, the ambiance on that bus must have been unique. I should have took a picture but you woulsd have claimed it was shopped, so carry on.
The picture that compares the events, the trash left by the 'left' rally as compared to the Beck rally is now a pictured and documented fact, and the signage from the American Socialist Party, and American Communist Party is also a documented fact, but only the one or two 'Tea Party' wacks with questionable signage get coverage as a 'representation' of the 'Tea Party' movement.
Why did I not give something? I payed taxes and still do, so I already have, how the government and these individuals spent these monies, that is the social issue we are facing..

That's why I don't give to charity either--I already pay for other people's social security, their food, housing, clothes, etc--what more do they want?

I am not even an irrational leftist. I just am far left of OS and FE.
Plsu, I still don't get what hygiene and funds of one particular bus has to do with anything...
Last year we took a bus to Pittsburgh for a paintball event. There were about 40 of us. What assumptions would you have made of us since we were all dirty from playing(we left right after the last match), smelling like alcohol we brought on the bus, and short on cash due to the fact we just played a paintball tournament.

^^^ Well since you were on the bus you were all obviously a bunch of militant liberal hippies returning from paramilitary training at which you learned the techniques for overthrowing God, the government and the constitution in an effort to take everything away from people who actually worked for it and give it to people who do nothing but set on their couches and whine about how tough their lives are.
How'd I do?
