Subject: Phenom bolt in a TPX?

I'm seeing a few lighter, soft face upgraded bolts for the Phenom like the TechT MRT and NDZ Spitfire bolts, but nothing for the TPX.

We don't get the Phenom in New Zealand because of its firing modes but in the pictures I've seen the bolt looks identical between the Phenom and TPX, can anyone tell me if this is in fact the case?

If possible I'd like to be able to use the TechT MRT Phenom bolt in my TPX but in most cases shipping to NZ is minimum $40usd plus cost combined with a poor exchange rate means it could be an expensive waste of time if it doesn't fit.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

I am not 100% positive, but I leaning towards, no. Checking on the part numbers, they are different for the two parts. I have found in the past, that if the same part is used in various markers, they will share a common part number. This isn't definitive, but probably a good indictation that they are not interchangeable. Someone else that has both may be able to compare and advise.

Wow.  You have to love a government that knows what's best for you and watches out for you this thoroughly.

We're better off than the neighbors though, in Australia you require a firearms licence/permit and some states won't actually let you own a paintball marker, the field owns it and you use it. Also on top of the semi/pump only you can't have things like a tactical stock or a fake magazine. There is also no outlaw ball, and you require an import licence for things like a hopper/loader as they count as a firearm magazine. Its different in each state though.

At least now with the mech Phenom we in New Zealand can get those in, so if I can't find out about the Phenom and TPX bolt compatibility online then I should be able to see a mech Phenom in the next few months as they filter on down the chain.

I would measure your TPX bolt and call up Tech T asking for the dimensions. Ill assume its not compatible though.

Just dont tell them "whats that in millimeters". Silly metric system.

Tried contacting Techt and haven't had a reply after a week. I've emailed Tippmann to see if the stock bolts are compatible as theoretically the aftermarket bolts would be too.

I'll be attempting to make one from Delrin on a lathe instead.

Hmm. Not sure if making the entire bolt out of delrin would work too well. The bolt doesn't catch on a sear like an Automag but it still has a pretty high-tension spring applying pressure on a relatively thin lip.

If I were turning one from scratch, I'd probably go with a 2-piece setup. The rear lip in aluminum, and the main portion of the bolt from delrin.

i agree with enos.  last thing you want is a broken bolt mid game with pieces to find inside the gun.
