http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/10/a_flood_of_toxic_sludge.html - The Big Picture's collection of the massive toxic spill in Hungary.

Some pretty epic and sad photos in there. I guess the sludge is gunk from making aluminum. I don't know what  was expecting, but I always figured toxic gunk was stored in a better way than what looks like a glorified above-ground swimming pool. Dead

The Big Picture is one of their most-clicked things on their site too. It's a money-maker for them, and it's just one person putting together high-res wire photos.

An amazing and simplistic idea.

(I wish I'd have thought of it).

You know, earthen impound dams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Creek_Flood - have this horrible tendency to fail . Makes me wonder why people rely on them so much for things like this.

They were hoping that someone would eventually fall in and develop some type of mutant super powers.
