HAd first dusting yesterday am and this am. 28 deg outside woodstove going, legs feel so good warmed with dry heat of the fire.

Dug out the French Press to pack up, and made a large mug of ground French Roast, done through the press. Nothing to me warms and tastes better than non-filtered coffee. A little cocoa mixed in but this time just coffee.

Back to packing too much time with New Vegas.

Walking out of the math building today I thought I saw a few snowflakes.  I was cold while wearing a flannel shirt - not a good sign.

28* this morning.  Still sweats weather as long as its not windy.

It was in the 40's today. Haven't moved to my thick jacket yet, although today was the first day I went back to wearing an undershirt.

I'm still kind of excited for winter.  In a few weeks this will turn to dread.  However, my roommate and I have extremely hot computers instead of a heater, which is working quite well so far.

I bought a pair of gloves at work today. :/ It's far to early in the year for that. 5am was quite chilly today.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

LOL

So true. Layers and an investment in hand warmers seem like a good plan at this point.

Typically these threads don't interest me much, but now that we have a winter n00b, they're suddenly much more entertaining.

Sorry Whale.

Snow here today too. Must buy gloves now. :( I seem to lose a pair every year near the end of the season, like clockwork.

My friend back home knows how to knit very, very well (Same kid who built the PC inside of the NES) and has made me a knit hat, the kind with the flaps over the ears.

An example of the kind of hat he is sending me, modeled by the creator:

Mine is going to be mostly black with whatever pink extra thick yarn he has left. The pink will be on the ear-flap part.

Knowing how to knit is one of those survival-esque skills I'd love to learn how to do, but it requires more sit-down time than I have.

Question to the experienced northerners: Does that hat look like it's good enough to endure the weather? It's made with extra-thick yarn.

Possibly, only thing I would worry about with it is the wind getting through it.

I'm not sure how it would handle wet snow/sleet that could soak into it.  Other than that it should be okay.

Haha, yeah, he is pretty indie. He also really hates hipsters a lot though. He DJs for a living, and gets fed up when downtown hipsters get pissy about him remixing popular songs.

Those glasses are a fluke too. He crunched his old ones one day, and when he went to the eye doctor's office to get a new pair, those were the cheapest they had. And he was really broke at the time.

71 today, 72 tomorrow.

Still waiting on the snow. Last year it snowed before Halloween. I'm sure it could happen this year. Although the 10-day forecast says no.

It's really humid here. And because it got chilly last week the heater is on everywhere.

Nothing better than 75 percent humidity in a room blasting 75 degree air. At least it is helping my sinuses.

We had snow on 17SEP, nothing that stuck around for too long. And honestly I'm surprised we haven't seen anymore. This is most "Fall" I've seen since being stationed here. I kind of like it, and will miss it when it's gone. When the snow comes, so does non-stop wind and that makes winter even more super awesome.
