I am beginning to wonder if this is the beginning of a Korean War.

Its all over the news. Those are some basic and relatively useless links.

TL;DR: North Korea and South Korea exchange artillery fire. North fired first, most likely.

North Korea is one of those countries where I want to make a conservative decision and say, make my day!

Realistically though, the North does not have a chance causing harm to the United States unless China becomes involved, or they haveICBM's.  At the same time, though, it would be likely that the North would trample the South.

What I would be also curious about would be how much of a Guerilla war it would become. In terms of Conventional Warfare, a NATO war against the North would be fairly simple. In addition, I think many of the Northern civilians would like to stop living in extreme poverty, but maybe the general population is that brainwashed.

Maybe the population has been brainwashed? There is no maybe about it. Go read the North Korea wiki at least, I think some of it might surprise you.

I heard the South fired in an exercise first and the North chucked a few back. To be fair there was no need for retaliation but it's not as clear cut as it seems from the news.

(I may be talking bollocks or this may be something I made up)

The majority of those in the North have been brainwashed, not only to the extent of hating the outside world, but they truly believe they are better off than the rest of the world.

it wouldn't be a new or second Korean war, it would just be a continuation of the one from 1953 during which an armistace was signed...the war was never officially over
