Went today to VA pain clinic, my stim has not been acting right. I thought the remote or charger were the problem, of course not that easy.
After a download of the info from the stim an error code made the Boston Scientific reps ask for a X-Ray of back. It appears that the leads dropped 3 in, and the excess wire came out of the canal and was looped twice. The neuro surgeon poked around and compressed the area with his thumbs and confirmed wires were out of the canal along the spine.

So now, stim is deactivated, pain is back in spades, and back on hydrocodone till rescheduled for surgury late January early February, another 6 weeks doing nothing and on my back, not to mention the headache from hell again. From what I understand some form of clips will be attached to leads as they are fed back in to prevent wires from slipping out again.

Ouch. That really bites, OS. What kind of recovery time are you looking at after the repair?

Jeez man that sucks.

Hope they fix you properly this time.

Was it poor installation or did you do something to it?

Wow that is rough man, never something you like to hear. I'm still always impressed by your attitude towards this all though, none of the "woe is me" crud. Keep being the strong man you are.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but keep hanging in there.  At least you've got the benefit of knowing that when it's fixed you'll be mobile again.

Good luck, let us know if we can do something.

Sorry to hear that OS. I'll be praying for you, and I hope they are able to move up the date of the surgery. Being in constant pain is not fun.

What? I never said he should just sit on the couch and die and would never think of telling someone that when I have a Dad who sits at home with MS all day, The last thing I would do is say or imply something like that. How the hell do you know if he didn't screw something up while riding his Dirtbike, it was a legitimate question and if OS feels I was being a jerk, then that is him to say and not you and believe me if he thought I did come off as a jerk I would be the first one to apologize because I understand the type of crap he is going through. So to end it, Screw you FE, go pick arguments elswhere.

Was this the reason the RF charger was burning you earlier in the year?

Are they gonna fix that while they have the hood open?

The overheating was a prime indicator of a problem, but the VA as well as Boston Scientific was in no hurry to diagnose that problem. The looped and crossed wire either shorted or had the potential to short causing the implant to use current at a higher rate, hense creating heat, and drawing more current faster from the charger to maintain.

The implant is a godsend when it is working but it appears the effect was declining more and more and the VA just scheduled a far off appointment and told me to carry on till then. Now the implant is off, an appointment to fix the problem is again far off, so heres a handfull or two of hydrocodone, deal with it till then.

Yup. Decades from now, when we're all in our 70s whining about arthritis, OS will pull up on a dirt bike, grimace, and tell us to suck it up.
