The snow is out there, when do you plan to do some skiing/riding? If the wife feels better, I'm going Monday. If she doesn't feel better, I'm still going Monday......

I've already been 3 times, the snow is incredibly good this year. Having a seasons pass is fantastic, and here's my new board:

Feels really good, really fast and responsive. I'll have on-hill pictures eventually.

Amateur.... When I lived in Snowshoe, my entire first winter's rations consisted of bulk packs of Nature Valley fruit and nut trail mix bars.

I was far better off spending what I spent on skis, bindings, a new coat, etc, than spending it on food.

I used to ride a bit when I worked at Windham Mountain here in NY. As an employee I got to go for nothing- which was the only reason I tried it at all. As much as I hate winter and everything that has to do with it, I'll have to admit, I had a ton of fun snowboarding.

I even lucked out, A close friend of mine worked in the shop there, and rather than the crap ass rental boards they had, we got to 'demo' the good stuff. I literally paid nothing to ride on some of the high end equipment they had up there, and man, it was awesome.

Never had the time or money to get into it seriously though. Sort of miss it, sort of don't.

Have fun this season.

May go snowmobiling over break, it all depends on the amount of snow. But I will get out on the atv's with my friends at least once.

Hoping to take the troop out to the hill down south that they call a mountain and let the little ones, and maybe me, learn to snowboard sometime in the next month or so. Should be a hoot.

Hows the EZ V treating you?  I could only imagine that thing FLOATS in pow.

I'm still waiting to go out, not enough for jibbing yet around here.  Hope to hammer out the banff trip this week with my buddies so I can ride a real mountain.

It's funny actually, when my friends and I stop to have a safety meeting, we've laughed a few times about how crazy people from Florida might think we are, leisurely sitting waist deep in snow on the side of a mountain having a chat.

I'm riding Mt. Seymour in Vancouver, BC. I got a seasons pass for $230, which is less than it costs for 6 day passes, so it's totally worth it.
The board is amazing, as the http://www.burton.com/mens-boards-twc-standard-snowboard/231613,default,pd.html - burton site the board is really really mellow, which I wasn't sure what I would think but the flex is a lot of fun. I can't really feel a huge difference between camber and rocker (which is good I would say) but it certainly does float on powder (it IS a wide board) which I simply love. It feels really good though, almost effortless at times to get where I want to go, and performs fantastically even on intense fast tree runs.
I got it waxed before the last time I went up and it sure is a speedy sucker :D

Is that what snowboarders call it when they sit at the top of the trail and do absolutely nothing, right in the middle of where people are trying to ski/board?

Edit:  Yes, I know what a safety meeting really is.

230 for a season's pass is too good to believe.  Considering most lift tickets daily are around 50-75.  Good to hear ur getting out there, I cant wait!

It's funny how much fun people can have sliding on snow.

Yeah, it was a 60% early bird student deal. I'm REALLY glad we noticed it because I have never ever seen a seasons pass that cheap. It's really nice having a pass too, just park and walk straight to the lift.
