Mmmmm yummy if you don't mind me asking about how much did it run you? I have been looking for a 1911 for a while now, but everyone that I have found has been out of my price range.

What do you need it for and what is your price range?

There is no such thing as a cheap 1911, just one you haven't finished paying for yet.

I'd hope you wouldn't have a bat mitzvah to become a man....

Basically as a traget/home defense weapon, the only ones I have found in town won't go for any less than $900. The reason I want the 1911 is because my dad used to have one and I really liked the way it shot, and it has good knock down power.

Cabelas has a SA WWII spec 1911 for $500 in PA. Id imagine online/other stores have something similar.

Me personally, I want a centennial 1911(not the gaudy gold inlay one, the basic model) ahough they raised the MSRP from $800 to $1150.

Sweet piece, brah, but you are still not a man by T&O standards until you also have a Mosin.

I can't recall their prices, but around $350.

That being said, I have not personally used one, and only have sketchy 3rd hand stories. But they say it is solid and it works.

Enough for a range gun that can back up as a HD gun.

I'll have to remember that, I probably won't make a move on one till this summer anyways, because if I had it at school it would just have to be locked up in the security office.

Like I said, no guarantees on it, and you might just find you'll spend a bunch on "improvements", but for $350 it sounds like a nice gun to have in the safe for range trips and just in case.

I'd love to get one of their frames to start on.

I really want a gun, and everyone getting a new gun every day really doesn't help that.

I think in MA, you have to have a backround check. 1 year wait period. And cavity search.

Frequent "cavity checks" one of the few things that do not fall under the aforementioned "everything."

Good question on both, right now I'm going to change the fact that I haven't shot it and put some lead through it and see whats up.  And they are checkered plastic, I might replace those with something slick looking.
