An account of a 98 owner, being incredibly stupid enough to make the Darwin Awards Website, with what could have been a lethal self inflicted injury. Link provided to the article.

i thought darwin awards included someone dying or losing their nads so they couldn't reproduce?

also, i have a hard time believing the parents didn't find out.

According to the Author all accounts submitted are attempted to be verified by talking to people involved, I would imagine in this case that hospital staff would have been aware of this, as such and injury would require urgent medical attention. Also the Awards have a honorable mention for those who don't qualify with the requirements for inclusion in the Darwin Awards.

It wasn't a real Darwin award, it was a user submitted story.

And I call shens on the story. I just can't see a paintball taking a uvula off.

You mean people can get HURT by being shot with an object traveling over 200 miles per hour, let alone point blank in the mouth?

Wow... I guess I never realized that in my 8 years of paintball and my time in medicine... oh and common sense.

IF, big if, the story is even somewhat true, the kid is lucky he didn't have edema form and suffocate.

See what happens when you don't appreciate/respect your uvula.

Edited addition:

I just wanted to add that this is a classic example of what can happen when you go shooting your mouth off without thinking about what you're doing first.
