Well....its here. It rolled in about 10 last night. I went to bed and woke to plows going up and down the road, that was at 3am. Everything's shutting down, has been since yesterday.

I got sent to a school for work yesterday because they were expecting to take a snow day today. That was fine with me, since they were expecting over a foot of snow.

While I was there, I got an email from my boss telling me that I'm going BACK there today. Snow or no snow.
Normally, I wouldn't be too concerned, except its a 50 mile trip through rural back roads that are supposed to be socked in pretty bad.

So, while normal populace is battening down the hatches for the bulk of the storm which is supposed to roll in during the day today- I'll be making a 100 mile round trip in an area where "All non-essential travel is ill-advised"

It's been nice knowing you all.

That is ridiculous why do you have to today?

I got at least a delay for work canceling breakfast. I may have to go in for lunch, but I am pretty sure we will be closed.

Oh, I forgot about you, you're right where its supposed to be worse aren't you?

As bad as we're getting it here, You've got my sympathies out there.

As for what I'm doing today....I'm not actually sure.
We've got a new guy whose installing a network monitoring device at the school we're headed to today. He's riding with me because that account is pretty much under my control, I have the keys to the building which will be locked up on a snow day- and since he's new, he still doesn't know the area.

So, while he does that, I think I'll busy myself with some light work and swearing at management.

Good luck to you.

Last night they said 12-18 inches. We got a good amount when I checked this morning.

Haha swearing at management. That is what i will do if I do go in because it is a corporate account I work at none of those people will show up except essential personal...so 12 people

We can't shut down services since we take care of dozens of medical offices in this area, so I don't mind not having the day off, but those accounts are all local. Why we HAVE to do this job today, so far from anywhere, that's what I'm questioning. Since we're doing this, it takes us out of the field all day. There isn't any way that we could hit another call, since 100 miles in this weather will take hours. from a business end, they could have waited until next week when the stuff is clear, and had us on hand for local service calls.

But....They don't pay me to ask questions.

Side note: I noticed yesterday that my car needs tires.

I hate snow on campus. All the people that park on the street keep their cars there forever and then the plows pile the snow onto them and then the snow semi melts and then forms ice making it impossible for me to use the street parking for 30 minutes if someone moves out of the spot. And the snow on the streets are disgusting.

Oh by the way. Thank you for the christmas card, Reb!

I "think" we got about 7 to 8 inches, hard to tell since it is so windy that I have snow drifts on the front AND back of my house...

Roads aren't too bad... except for my 1,000 foot driveway. My brother in law plowed it last night, and you couldn't even tell this morning...

I think this part of the state got about two or three inches. Maybe four.

Even out in the boonies though, everything was nicely plowed and salted. And even the parts that were not were fine to drive on as long as you take it steady.

Not sure of the total here either. Pretty heavy wind last nigh blew most of the snow that would normally gather on the tops of the houses and put most of it on the ground along with drifting. There were about 2-3 inches on my car this morning and this all accumulated over night as it was clear after I shoveled yesterday afternoon. They said we officially got 3.5 inches or so yesterday, but seemed like more.

On a high note, taking the ankle biters sledding after I pick them up from school today... Woot!.

Got about 9 inches here, and my girlfriend and brother who are already back in Boston got around a foot, with more snow coming down.

I think I may go sledding and have a cigar in a little bit.

That is one of the GREAT things about Ohio, sledding...

When I first moved here, we used to always head over to the graveyard to sled. My father in law would drive his lexus and we would trade off driving up the hill, and letting the other guys sled down, while the car came back down to pick us up.

All the fun, without the tiring hill walking!

Now we sled off my hill in my backyard, and when we feel lazy use the golf cart!

I got a toboggan a few years ago at a yard sale for $10. Man are they fun!

Have fun sledding!

Took the granddaughter that lives locally sledding last week.  She had a blast and I pooped out before she did.  (4 years old and it was the first time she had ever been--been giving the parents a hard time for being slackers on that issue.)

Read that as took granddaughter sledding, she pooped.

I was going to be impressed by your intense sledding, but then my reading comprehension kicked in.

I actually took my twins last year when they had just turned 5. I would have taken them sooner, but the only good place around here for sledding in at the reservoir and it is pretty freaking steep. I am hoping my oldest will go along to help out, but she's 12 and starting to go through a little of the "too cool for that" stage. I actually rarely sled anymore unless I really get guilted into it. I think I finally surpassed the weight vs padding safety limit.

So we got snow to my knees. Apparently when we got that snowstom the day after christmas they closed the building even though the snow was plowed pretty good by morning, but this time they didn't close. 2 hour delay so I shoveled my driveway and went to drive. I got stuck in the middle of my road as soon as I got on it hahahah. Shoveled a path for me to get back into my driveway.

got some decent snow on Long Island. My buddy and i went around shoveling and made some cash. Only about half of what we made last time, but still enough to renew my license this month. I hate the snow. All 12-18 inches of it.

It's getting worse around here now. It been snowing pretty good since before I woke up.

My first class got cancelled and I didn't know till I made it to campus. The email mustve been sent 5 minutes after I checked. It took me 4x the usual time to get there then I check the email again and it's cancelled.

So I made good use of the time by sitting in the lounge with a bunch of people and played super smash bros. for 4 hours till my next class.

I think we got 6-8 inches. Can't really tell, it's drifty here. I'm surprised...usually the first serious snow of the year we get, and my boss acts like Reb's boss and sends me to the far corners of the planet. I spent the day in the office, although I may have to pay for it tomorrow.

My dog went outside in the backyard (german shephard/lab mix, 80ish pounds) was not happy. The snow was over her belly, she made a few leaps out and turned around.

We got hit three days ago, about 8-12 inches and single digit temps. The Tundra is a dream in the snow, momma's SOUL is still buried, and Amma's Jeep has a dead battery.

Cold in house, downstairs bedroom is way too cold, we are sleeping in living room on futon, both bassets huddled underneath, and space heater going.

We had a glitch with VA loan on new house, so looks like first week in February. And relocation company needs to update septic to code, and repair water (frozen exterior pipes burst, no pressure to house)before VA will approve loan. We are living in the old house, all packed up and no where to go.

The elevation here does funny things sometimes. The forecast called for 6-12", then changed to 8-14". We ended up with 24-30". Last year we had a forecast for a "wintery mix" with up to 10"  in some locations" and got 2' of sloppy wet crap. I have a 15min drive to school and had no delay since they got some sleet and rain 800' below us. I both love and hate living in the sticks.

No driving issues here in Detroit. I also typically drive to work at 5am.

We get an inch or so everyday now from the lake effect, and then the sun melts a little bit of it. We have maybe 4-5 inches accumulated.
