http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/01/20/borger.palin.fatigue/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn - Sarah Palin

Rarely will I start political threads, because I don't like how they end up, but this article raises a good point about why people are growing weary of Palin.

Its pretty well on the mark from what I see, even as a conservative.

In B4 "I've always hated her, long since before it was cool too."

and before FE runs roughshod over me for not being a real right winger.

I really think though that she's been spoiled by the attention she's gotten. She may have been what the Tea Party, and even the GOP needed back in the beginning, but she's become the typical caricature of a politician now, just without the brains to EVER shut up.

Looking at that sentence. I'm bothered by it.

Should I have dropped the last 'o'?
It makes sense that way, but I don't think it flows correctly. damn you engrish.

I voted for Palin in the last election, specifically, as I hated McCain...

I think the most interesting thing about Palin is the way the ruling class has destroyed her. (and by ruling class I mean the media).

Based on the polling, she has been destroyed. And think about it, why not?... That is what the liberal media does. It attacks someone over and over and over and over and over. and we all start to believe it.

Palin had a lot of quirks that were super annoying. Her "you betcha" comments, and folksy talk irritated me from the beginning. What I found interesting was the way she has changed that about herself. Look at how she talks today... All that  is gone now.

So clearly she has someone who is helping mold her image. But, imagine how frustrating it would be to be attacked daily for things that are super trivial, and yet... With her, they are repeated so much by so many that they end up sticking.

Personally, I think Palin is GREAT for the Republican party. As she is the target of the left, and ALL of them focus their attacks on her to the point that they ignore many of the other more adept politicians who could actually win election in the next Presidential cycle.

Think about it, Paul Ryan would be a perfect candidate, yet, he is ignored by the media.

Good... We have seen that the constant attacks do have results... 50% disapproval is death.

And this again is another reason why I think she is just playing the media. I seriously don't think she would run for President. She is just using this media hate, to further her exposure, and increase her speaking fee's/book sales.

I saw her in person here in West Chester during the campaign. She is the most "real" politician I have ever met. But, would I want her to be President?... Not really.

We need a President that has serious business chops. Who knows how to get things done, and will actually shrink the government and more importantly shrink the regulations that business to deal with today.

We are deciding on our health insurance this month for the next year. I have documented on here the massive increases we have every year for the past 5 years, and guess how much our plan goes up THIS year... Because of Obamacare.

111%.

Guess the old "If you like your plan you can keep it" only applied to the rich. I don't see many small businesses being able to cover that kind of increase. Especially when oil is now close to $100 a barrel. And the cost of unemployment insurance, and disability are already insane.

Our country government is destroying the ability of small business to survive.

We need a President who understands BUSINESS. No more lawyers, or "community organizers".

I really like Huckabee. But, if Donald Trump is running...

I'm voting for Trump.

Like I said, I think Palin is just running interference, and doing a heck of a job btw.

So basically anyone who runs on the GOP ticket in 2012 can say "Hey, at least I'm not Palin?"

Or are you saying that she's blocking negative attention to other prospective candidates by clowning around in the public eye? While 'taking one for the team' would be a grandly noble gesture, I don't believe that ever happens in politics, because there's nothing to gain from it personally....unless she's got an eye on an appointed position.

I don't know it seems all too clever to be plausible for the GOP. They're not as sneaky and slithery as the left is.

It's either "...long since before it was cool to." or "...long since before it was cool, too."

I wondered when she was picked if Palin was just a media draw or actually had something worthwhile to contribute to our country. Her actions during the election and since have given me my answer, and not been very flattering to Mrs. Palin at all.

Kinda...

Look at it this way.

How many books could she sell being the "former" vp candidate?

How many books could she sell being the "possible" Presidential candidate?

She is definitely smart, and plays her cards to make money clearly. So she knows that going to certain states, will make everyone think she is going to run... And what do her book sales do?

Which makes her speaking fee go up as well.

And she HATES the media. (I have her "liked" on facebook and it is clear from reading her posts that she would enjoy making them look bad).

I read people for a living (being in sales) I think I am pretty good at it.

Does she want higher political office?... I don't think so, she wants POWER. And right now, she has that power while not even holding public office. Which is a first in American politics.

She has used that power to pull a fox contract as a talking head. All of this goes back to paydays for her.

And while everyone on the left is obsessed with trying to destroy her, it only makes her more valuable to the far right people that are totally on her side.

But, I don't see her running. She will keep leading everyone on, as that gets her paid, but no way with 50% disapproval could she win.

Is she smart enough to realize that her staying in the focus is keeping others from taking the attacks that would damage them?...

Got me. But, that is the result. No question about it. NO ONE gets the media as tweaked as Palin. She is the focus off all of this issues right now.

Does the GOP even realize this?... Doubt it, as their "unseen" leadership is pretty clueless it seems to me.

Although Boehner is very smart, and his manipulation of the President will be amusing to watch in the next two years.

I thought she was an excellent pick by McCain until the Couric interview. Her inability to not be dumb was exposed after that, and I found it much harder to respect her.

John McCain is an incredible man, and on the whole I like his politics.  But I couldn't vote for him with Palin as his running mate.

Got to shake his hand on the way to OCS this summer (he happened to be boarding the flight next to the one all the candidates flying out of NJ/NYC on his way back to Arizona), which was pretty cool.  Not sure if that rates above or below flying on the CH-53.

Palin, on the other hand, has always seemed to me like a younger, hipper version of Nancy Pelosi.  I don't like either of their politics.

Oh, and I agree with Reb and the opinion of the link.

Although it has been amusing to see Palin's rolling and flailing to be the victim of everything, including the big bad media asking her "gotcha" questions like "What is a supreme court decision you disagree with other than Roe v. Wade?"

Did she at least come up with another case that had been before the Supreme Court?  Honestly, I'd be surprised if she could.

The media did not destroy Palin, she destroyed herself. Glad to see that people are finally getting sick of her.

I think Palin was a hail Mary attempt to swing women and younger voters. IMO, it was a crippling blunder that  alienated a fair amount of voters, myself included.  I had no interest in voting for Obama, but it also made me question McCains worthiness for picking such a glaringly incompetent running mate. I have never seen her as even remotely qualified to hold a governors seat, let alone the highest in the country.  I don't doubt that a lot of her "campaigning" is simply riding the horse of fame until it finally collapses from exhaustion, where I then see here whipping it and beating it until it breathes it's last breath and beyond. She'll go away when the media finally realizes that by giving her attention it is feeding the troll. Do I think she seriously feels she is going to be the GOP's presidental candidate in 2012? Hard to say as she does seem quite delusional sometimes in her actual abilties and/or inabilities. Do I think if she was offered the opportunity to run she would without any regards to whether she was actually capable of doing the job? You betcha!
