I love getting my license suspended for absolutely no reason.

Did you know that spinning out on the highway due to poor road conditions and plowing is a surchargeable event you can get your license suspended for?

Not to mention they are telling me I have a surcharge for an accident in a town I have never been to, that I don't remember happening.

I have the RMV with a passion. Even more now than before.

yeah, unfortunately what a lot of people don't know is as long as there's no minimum speed limit one can go as slow as they want on a road. Plus when the roads are crap, its expected that the driver goes at a speed which matches the conditions of the road, which leads to situations like yours. The cop probably went on about how you were driving unsafely or wrecklessly given the road conditions, which is cause for suspension on the spot in some places. You should check out the local laws.

Second, did you lend your car to someone else or something? It may have come up as you maybe?

I was doing 30 on a highway, no police were called, and no one else was involved.

I don't know I guess it is a possibility. It was on a Sunday in June....Sundays in June I am usually playing paintball.

Oh and one of my surcharges that it is being suspended for is my headlight was out....

They don't even offer a cinderella license. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They give a cinderella license to my crack dealing retarded family after a conviction, but I can't get one for stupid surcharges?

depends on how the cop feels that day i guess, and what he can prove or what evidence is in sight enough to have cause for a search. It's really one really long fine line they have to walk. Sucks about the license though, when can you get it back?

If there were no cops then how did they suspend your license for spinning out?

Depends on what the cop sees in plain sight...if your friend is a crack head and had crack in view when the cop looked in the window, they he would have likely gotten away with it, if he didn't act suspicious. If it were in sight then he would have reason. It also depends on how far the cop wants to push it when he thinks there's something but doesn't have concrete proof, or if hes dealing with a known repeater.

That sucks. Especially since it doesn't start until Feb.

Insurance claim

Not to say that you should have lied about the insurance claim, but maybe not have reported it? It seems wierd that the cops would get you that way, but then again i don't know alot about how they do some things.

I was just talking about the fact that a license was taken away for a drug conviction. It was given back as a hardship license from 7am-7pm. It says in my letter I do not have that option.

It is from the registry, not cops. I had to report it. I had to fix my airbag which I had been driving around with. Far too expensive for me to fix without insurance.

Sounds like the bad luck of the year award is going to you so far unfortunately...is there anyway you can go to court to plea for a hardship license?

This sounds like something that is between the State, the Insurance Co. and you.  Most of these problems can usually be fixed by throwing money at everyone but you.  Pay the fine and get your license back.  Money is usually all the Insc. Co. wants.

How did the Insc. Co. find out about the tire spinning?  Did the tire spinning somehow contribute to the crash?

By spinning out, I meant that my car spun around 180 degrees on the highway due to the road conditions.. I don't mean I was spinning my tires

Doing a 180 caused your airbag to deploy?

Only if it's because the conditions are crap and you can't actually drive the limit. Otherwise driving too slowly = impeding traffic.

I've luckily not spun out yet. I sort of skidded sideways for a bit across a bridge, but no total spin.

I did spin out back in Florida though. Like, total 180* spin. It was when I had first purchased by now-former pickup truck and it had really bad tires, and it was pouring rain.

There is always that really awkward moment after that happens when you are looking at the guy in the car behind you, and you just feel ashamed.

What caused the airbag to go off? They generally don't go off unless you hit something reasonable hard. I think there's a bit more to this story...

Not really his fault so much. A human body's not meant to be carried that far back in a car; it impacted the car's balance and caused him to lose traction. He had no intent to lose control of his driving when he put the dead chick in the trunk.

This. Had a chick smack into my Jeep while I was stopped with her doin about 50 and neither hers nor my airbags went off. Story Time dude.

The airbag went off because I hit the guard rail after...there is no story. I just got my car back from the shop fixing the bumper and airbag.

Also, counting a headlight being out as surcharge that can take your license away is a bit ridiculous...

The speeding is all me obviously.

What reasons? I have speeding 4 times, and then it is "Headlight out" "Accident in town that I have never been to..." and "Accident due to weather".

I actually have 5 speeding tickets and had to take a class for those 5, but the last one fell out of the 3 years for this suspension.

Also, a bus pass? Mind telling me how I am going to take a bus 30 miles to a town they don't go to every day? I'll just drive and probably get arrested.

Uh, really?  Assuming she hit you with her front bumper, instead of just glancing off your car, that suggests she has a defective airbag.  Airbags deploy between 20 and 30 MPH.  The G-load from a collision with a car going 50 MPH would probably have set off your airbags as well, but that's less certain than her's going off.

I think you're wrong about the speed of the collision.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree, either your airbag was defective in a scary way, or your speed estimates are wrong.

Nah that won't be no reason, even though I disagree with it being suspended.

Errm.. there are minimums, and it's just as illegal to go under as it is over in the left lane of travel.

In NY the highways have minimum speeds, but the local roads typically don't

Also, if the road is covered in crap, the speed limit is still "what's safe to drive".

Unless there's a posted minimum, the only thing you can get a ticket for is being a safety hazard.  That would assume you were actually obstructing the flow of traffic, and not driving a safe speed.
