I will be attending the 3rd annual "Drinkin' with Lincoln" in good ol' Athens Ohio this weekend. I highly recommend you attend, or at least let me buy you a drink (white Russian?).
Look for my vehicle (either on campus somewhere or being towed):

(please don't steal the spare drive shaft and tires that are stored on the roof).
In before "PM him noob"
I'll extend the invite to this years festivities to all forum members who are looking to party, drink some free brews, break stuff that isn't theirs, and then leave, never having to deal with the consequences of your actions ever again.

The pictures don't do it justice. It has the a 5.7L V8 under the hood, which is connected to the headers, which are then connected to a 3" pipe welded in so it pops out right under the driver's door. No cats, no glasspack, just a fury of black smoke.

That thing is awesome. I'm kind of offended that this is the first I've seen of it. I may, however, just be partially blind.

One, holy hell that's a van.
Two, I'll PM you my number if you want to get your text on so maybe we can set up a time to meet.
Three, I've only hit a few of the bars downtown, but the one preferred by the grads and myself is Jackie O's. I think it used to be O'Hooley's. They brew their own beer and I'll gladly buy you one.
Four, I have no idea what "Drinkin' With Lincoln" is, but OU kids will never pass up an opportunity to booze, as I'm finding.

Around Halloween time they brew pumpkin spice beer, it will run you $4 a glass but holy hell it is worth every penny.
The Union was my preferred location because they always have live music upstairs (and you can haggle with the guy at the door as to how much you want to pay to get up there, I never once paid the full $5 usually only $1 or $2).
As for the drive shaft.....one of those photo's was taken while sitting on the side of the road in text. We had to stop to retrieve the spare drive shaft, since it fell off the roof. A Texas cop, koolest cop ever, drives up, flips his lights on, steps out of the car and says "Is that a... spare .....drive shaft?" "Yes officer, in case the current one breaks" "(slight laugh) Well, enjoy Texas boys!"

For your viewing pleasure, what the van looked like when we bought it for $1500 3 years, a few dozen cans of spray paint, and 2 cross country trips ago:

Carb fo sho
And it drinks a quart or so of oil every month or so. It's ok because whenever someone changes the oil on their car, we put the old oil into the van.

I had it on Halloween actually. It was a really good, surprisingly normal pumpkin ale. The place was pretty empty for it being Halloween. I guess most people were on the street.
Over the winter they had a stout with vanilla and nutmeg brewed into it. None of it beats their smoked oat stout though.
I feel bad because I've yet to try any other bars but JackieO's and Tony's (Which is a lovely dive). That string of smaller bars up a few blocks from Broneys and across from the Court Street Diner look awesome. I just am limited in my free time.

I wonder how one gets a job trying beer around the world.

We were carrying a spare drive shaft, what else do you think we brought with us "just in case?"

I tried out most of the bars at least once, but I only had a select few that I attended with any regularity.
The Red Brick is full of bro's, popped collars, pink polo shirts, the
wrist bands, all total bros. In particular bros who are majoring in
"business" (no not marketing or accounting just "business"). On the
positive side, they serve "mega mugs" aka ~4 beers for $3 on Thursday
nights....and if you're a kleptomaniac you can steal yourself a big,
awesome beer mug.
Pawpurrs has "power hour" from 8-9 (or was it 9-10?) where you get a beer for $1, but be warned, they set their clock ahead by 10 minutes.
I highly, highly recommend Slice Nice (Thursdays) at Courtside. $0.50
(or $0.75 for pepperoni) for a decently sized, delicious slice of
pizza.
While I'm sharing my OU wisdom here is the most important piece of info
that I will ever share with anyone: the self proclaimed "Best Land Lord
in Athens" (because he works for the newspaper and gives himself the
award each year) Guy Phillips and his "company" (which is actually just a
really creepy dude in his basement) "Housing Hot Link" is NOT a viable
option for a land lord. He is a total and complete crook in every way
imaginable. One day, whenever he finally dies, I will be singing and
dancing in the street, kissing babies.

Pawpurrs looks really awesome. It's the one I shall try next. When my friend and I were canvassing for our next place to try, it was on the list.
I'm in love with the food at the Court Street Diner and the $6 China Land buffet thing. Chinese food and JackieO's is my Thursday tradition.
Oh, and I live in The Plains up the road a bit, renting from Bobcat Rentals. I think it's a corporate umbrella under a bigger company, but it's whatever. I love not living near the downtown hustle and bustle of everything.
I probably won't need to move to anywhere else around here, as this is only a one year master's program, and I do believe my future lies in a PhD program of a reptilian-represented school back down in the penis-shaped state I'm still a resident of.
