As I was recalling the names of long forgotten forum members, it occured to me that what feels like along time ago, I used to talk to the members on instant messaging programs. Then it occured to me that I dont even use those services any more.

With text messaging, facebook walls, tweeting, and so on, do people even im anymore?

How long has it been since you last logged in online?

i still use my aim account through Trillian.  I only talk to one or two people on it, but it lets me send texts to phones via my computer, which is nice because at my parents' house I don't get very good signal on my phone.

I'm on AIM 24/7. I just leave it running on the other machine...

Fun fact, I used to have my AIM name in my profile in ASCII code, figuring only the clever people would figure it out. Unfortunately I think it was WGPGuy of all people that figured it out, and he used to pester me constantly. Fun fact, that guy used to have approx. 50 AIM names and he would use them all...

Skype, MSN and Google Talk. Usually logged in on one or all of them all the time I'm at a computer.

Pidgin ftw.

Although Facebook chat and Google Talk have replaced AIM and all that.

And IRC of, course. Pidgin does that too, but I prefer Xchat 2.

I use IRC and Steam chat. Been AIM free for at least two years now. Not sure I'd really count this but we use Office Communicator to chat simple stuff at work.

I connect to AIM and Facebook chat through Trillian.

At the last company I worked at, we all used Yahoo IM constantly. When I switched companies, the new one has everyone sign up for it and we used it for probably 6 months before everyone got sick of it. I still have mine running in the background as a couple of vendors I speak with still use it, but other than that, it sits idle. What's odd is it hasnt been replaced with something else, we just stopped using it.

I still leave Adium on in the background on my computer but it has been years since I've gotten anything.

I use Facebook chat and Gchat if I need someone almost 100 percent of the time.

Oh, and if anyone cares to AIM me, it's JeffreyKRiley or WhaleA598.

I have empathy running all the time connected to aim, gchat and fbchat. I really only ever talk to anyone on fbchat and rarely gchat.

IM used to be such a big deal.

Like most, I haven't used one of the "big three" IM's in a while. Google talk, facebook IM, twitter and steam cover my bases these days. Google talk the most, simply because we're using the Google Apps package at work.

I'm on MSN and YIM through digsby whenever I'm at my PC.

I have moved away from instant messaging totally. I've turned myself offline on facebook chat, and I had AIM on my iPhone when I had that, and never looked for it for the droid yet.

The only form of instant communication I use is texting, and I'm not even that much into that.

+ Yahoo at times.

I rarely sign on though. I used to  use Trillian for Aim/IRC but I barely do either.

Im usually on MSN and AIM, although I don't know why I bother with aim anymore, it's entirely for people from this forum, since nobody in Canada uses AIM. I still am usually on xchat as well.

I use Xfire and Steam chat occasionally.  I talk to one person on Facebook chat, mainly because that's the only place he seems to communicate.  I probably spend more time on Teamspeak than both of those combined though.

I've got an iPhone; I usually just use text, but I can log into my facebook and MSN accounts through ebuddy. Any time I'm on facebook it shows up to. I can't remember the last time I fired up MSN on its own.
