Well this is interesting.

http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2011/February/11-ag-222.html - Statement of the Attorney General on Litigation Involving the Defense of Marriage Act

It's a step, albeit a strange one, to legalized gay marriage. If DOMA has been the thing used as the justification at the state level for not recognizing gay marriage or issuing marriage licenses to homosexuals, what'll be the justification now?

It's a slippery slope towards legalized pedophilia.

My friend and I were just talking the other day about how growing up in Florida made Slip N' Slides far less enjoyable. They were never quite long enough, so you always slid out into the grass, which was inevitably filled with sandspurs.

That was usually followed by much pain and tweezers.

Yeah, nothing spoils a shoeless summer day than running through a patch of stickers.

Well Rofl_Mao why shouldn't it be?

I won't call it marriage for your sake. What is wrong with two adults joining in a union to share benefits that two other adults already can?

Yes, because your opinion sucks almost as bad as my attitude. Smile

Just for kicks, tell us why you oppose gay people having the same rights as everyone else.

Nice thing about this, is the precident it sets.

Presidents can now ignore the law if they don't like it.

Just like Obama ignored the judge overrulling his drilling ban in the gulf by declaring it no good... Then Obama just writes a new one...

And then when that expired, he has the EPA not sign ONE SINGLE drilling permit. Whoot $4.00 gas.

"utility prices will necessarily skyrocket" Barack Obama quote in 2007...

Can we call him a dictator yet? He is running roughshod over the courts, and now congress... Ignoring the rule of law, and just doing whatever he pleases...

Pigford fraud
Oil ban fraud
Black panthers fraud
Doma fraud
Union fraud
Budget fraud
"stimulus" fraud
Freddie and Fannie fraud
Didn't raise taxes... fraud (cig tax and tanning tax ?)
Fiscal fraud
Acorn fraud
Planned parenthood fraud

Winning the future... one fraud at a time.

cause the "ends justify the means" in community organizer land.

The drilling rigs that are already in existence did not magically disappear.

There is also the hilariousness that is the need to make the discussion about anything but legalizing homosexual marriage. It's like a straw dispenser that one must grasp at.

Wrong. He's not 'ignoring the law'. He's accepting the challenge of the law's constitutionality and allowing a court to strike it down on constitutional grounds unchallenged- in short, he's letting it die without a fight. He and the justice department have concluded that a reasonable argument cannot be made for the constitutionality of section 3 of the defense of marriage act.

There's nothing at all inappropriate with accepting the verdict of a court on this.

Yup, he actually said that.

Plus, he's only saying that the executive will not defend it. This still leaves the possibility that congress can appoint their own council to defend the law if they so choose.

National average, newb. Still under $3 a gallon here.

And thanks to grocery stores providing discounts on gas per every x amount you spend in their store, I was almost able to fill up for under $2 a gallon earlier this week.

Let's play a game called Reality Check:

http://www.newyorkgasprices.com/Retail_Price_Chart.aspx - http://www.newyorkgasprices.com/Retail_Price_Chart.aspx

Let's see, according to this chart, average prices are about $3.56 in New York, and have risen dramatically in the last 2-3 days. Now hmmmm. I wonder what type of correlation that could possibly have to the unrest in the Middle East right now?? Nooo that can't be it.  It must be because Obama has not approved any new drilling sites. I mean, look at the spike in 2008 when he was in office! Oh wait...
