Russian Military to spend $650 Billion to get 600 new planes, 100 new warships, 1000 new helicopters by 2020. Among the ships is 8 new nuclear submarines along with 2 new aircraft carriers to go with the 2 already purchased from France. | They simply have to re-equip, and with oil and gas prices at all time highs, they can afford to. Their recent engagements with Georgia and Chechnya showed that while they have some pretty nifty airframes and equipment, that A) there isn't enough of it to outfit their entire force, and B) their loss to kill ratio was unacceptable by the standards of a modern military due to the use of outdated equipment. |
