We're re-fitting an old restaurant and bar for my new place. (I left the corporate job of running 1 restaurant for a private one of running 3) The old restaurant we're renovating is full of 60-odd years of stuff from its time in operation. There's apparently another full drawer of these lying there for me to take. Included are tavern heads (what you use to tap a keg) which are tough to find for sale to the public sometimes.

http://www.alexandriacitywebsite.com/Stardust%20Restaurant%20&%20Lounge.htm - This is what we walked into the day we signed the lease. We demoed everything. And I mean EVERYTHING and are in the process of buttoning up the drywall, etc. It's gonna be a swank but not too uppity joint with a focus on southern Appalachian food (lots of house-smoked meats). I'll post the "after" pictures when we're done.

Based on what I've learned from TV

"More atmosphere than the moon" translates to our menu is crap but we'll distract you with tacky crap while we serve our crap.

"More Atmosphere than the moon" sounds like a sarcastic backhand to me.

The place had been in continuous operation since 1953 and hadn't ever been changed. The fact of the matter was that the decor was crap, the food was crap, and the staff were indifferent with a seriously loony owner. The chef was Thai and threw together an eclectic menu of Thai, comfort food, and fancy stuff (foie gras, etc). It simply didn't work anymore. But their loss is my gain. We're going to knock it out of the park when we're through with it.

Before renovating that place, I would have tried to see if some movie studio wanted to film a shootout in it. Even backwoods dives in SC have more ambiance and we use sawdust for flooring.

Are the two blue and yellow ones up there Wittekerke? If so, that's pretty much my most favorite beer on the planet.
