So.. Im looking for a watch and I am not looking to spend much money. The bare minimum is that it is gimmicky to amuse me, its waterproof to 10 feet, and it is cheap. For example, I used to want this:

Catapult watch. I am not 13 anymore so this no longer interests me.
I am also kinda amused by this, but it seems gaudy. I can get it from China for $13, which I wouldnt mind. I bought a hockey jersey from the site I will buy it from and I was happy with it.
But I also like mechanical self winding watches but they are a bit pricey. I also like Tallens gieger counter watch but its probably a few hundred at minimum.

I was unaware that people under 30 wore watches.

The dosimeter watch is $488.00 FYI. I AM buying myself one in about a month or two.

That said, I currently use a http://www.timex.com/Timex-Metal-Tech/dp/B00126MV76?ie=UTF8&id=Timex%20Metal%20Tech&field_product_site_launch_date_utc=-1y&field_availability=-1&field_browse=236545011&searchSize=12&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=236545011&searchKeywords=Metal%20Tech&field_keywords=Metal%20Tech&class=quickView&refinementHistory=watch_movement_type,size_code,band_material_type,dial_color,price&searchRank=salesrank - Timex Metal Tech watch that I bought at Target for $40

It's quartz movement rather than self winding, but still, fantastic simple watch.

As a watch wearer, I've actually found it annoying not having one on lately. I broke my strap and havent got it fixed yet, and there are times when I dont want to check my phone to see the time, etc.

Plus, its one of the few quality accessories a man can have, and there are tons of great options.

Looking http://www.dezeenwatchstore.com/ - here might be a good start

I'm also a big fan of Nixon watches.

I haven't owned a watch since my commemorative mickey mouse one that was given to me when i was a kid. I don't know where that one is, and haven't had one on in at least a decade.

I hate having something on my wrist.

I'm almost positive that it will give you some kind of Asian lead-based wrist cancer.

This.

If I need the time I check my cell phone or one of the clocks available near me at any given time. Or I just don't worry about checking the time.

I don't wear metal wrist watch band because the little groove things will catch my arm hair and pull them out and it makes me angry and want to throw the watch into a river. And cloth/velcro watches can only be worn by people under the age of 10 and over the age of 65.

I'm a watch nerd. I've got a Seiko kinetic watch. I call it my little perpetual motion device.

However, it's not for the faint of heart at almost $400. Not Swiss, I know, but to me it's an expensive watch. I LOVE that thing, though. Accurate for an analog, too.

Double post for attention!

I think I found you a watch:

http://www.stauer.com/item/Stauer-1930-Dashtronic-Watch/17469/2 - Stauer Dashtronic

Gimmicky, glitzy, self-winding, affordable (kinda). If you can afford to put out a c-note, this may be the watch for you. Bear in mind, in the world of self-winding, you get what you pay for, and Stauer is not what you'd call "high-end."

But, I used to really like this watch's aesthetics, so if you can justify a hundred, this may be the way to go.

I tend to go through years-long phases of either wearing one every day, or not. I've found that digging into your pants pocket every time you want to check what time it is on your cell can be extremely annoying and less than expedient. I tend to wear a watch until the strap goes, then I forget to get a new one and next thing you know, it's been 3 years and I realize that "hey, I should probably get a new watch."

That said, I can't stand not wearing one now. I feel naked if I forget it.

I'm waiting for my grandmother to die so I can inherit her gold Presidents Rolex. And she's a beefy woman, so she bought the mans edition.

My grandfather had a set of gold pocket watches, a woman's and a man's- matched set. My parents have them now. The one my father has weighs a ton and has a nice diamond chip in the middle. They're from the days when pocket watches were a status symbol. beautiful pieces that'll be mine one day.

I have seen that in many car magazines, and its cool, but not my cup of tea.

I have a Luminox 1848 I've been wearing just about every day.

Also, being in the middle of the mojave desert, you're not necessarily going to have cell service, and a watch is better than a sundial.

I've got a thing for wrist watches... For their price tag, quality, and what they are I really enjoy Armitron:

I like a very clean face...

Just bought this: (Under $85.00)

This is what I was wearing: (Under $50.00)

Both Steel - Both water resistant to 165 feet.

I'm still wearing my Tourneau, all stainless. Had it for about 12 years now, and wear it all the time.

I have had more than one guy ask me what I am thinking when I wear it to play paintball.

I need to replace it as I broke off the adjuster, so now it isn't water proof. Gonna have to take the battery out for 11 hours in a few days...
