So to continue my current trend of becoming a militant gun toting whack job, I picked up a concealed carry pistol. I plan on getting my license here in a few weeks, and I didn't own a single compact pistol after selling my xD.

So I bought one of these-

Glock G36 Slim. It's a .45, but thanks to a single stacked 6 round mag it has an amazingly thin profile. If any of you guys are looking into a CCW, I highly recommend giving this one a try. I love it. My only problem is, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it just yet, so I'm going to tinker around with the trigger and add a laser.

Strangley enough I could damn near drive tacks with my Glock 22, but the shorter barrel and stiffer trigger throw me off. Still, thanks to the size, I think it has a ton of potential.

I was listening to talk radio on my way back from the paintball store today and couldn't believe they actually have a show entirely devoted to guns. It astounded my that for at least an hour, I listened to some cc whackjob complain that Patricks AFB was so out of line for not allowing handguns on the base.

Besides that, nice gun.. I guess since I have no idea. It's very small and makes your penis look much larger I think.

Thumbs Up

Why did you sell your XD?

I didn't actually sell the XD, if I remember correctly I traded it straight across for my USP. One of those deals I couldn't pass up.

How much did you by the 2nd gen for?

Haha, you lost me there sir. My G36 is a fourth gen I think, i got a steal for 550 out the door. My 22 .40 was 385, also a steal. Both brand new.

I'm actually in a financial situation to finally pick up a pistol soon.  Now I just have to decide which one.

For the price, you can't do wrong with a Glock or XD. They're basically dominating the pistol market right now, and as such, like AR-15's, you can buy them sometimes well below cost at a gun show.

Oddly enough they hold pretty nice trade in value if you trade them in a small town shop where they're still selling for 600+. I actually profited quite nicely on my last Glock compact trade. Same with my XD.

Unless you start wearing it in a holster at town hall meetings while holding signs about watering the liberty tree, you're in the clear.

Folks have set the whack-job bar pretty high as of late. Which, as someone who likes guns, I'm fine with.

I've felt compelled recently to buy an Anaconda. Which makes no sense. I don't need one. I've already got a Colt Trooper. I need to quell my desire for over-powered revolvers. Which means I'll probably end up buying more camera gear.

Well, the first question is what kind of experience do you have with handguns?

i've shot my brother's glock 17, remington 45, and 357 magnum at a range once.

I'm not just gonna go out to a gander mountain and pick one out that looks cool, I need to find a non-sketchy gun shop/range near milwaukee and learn everything I need to know before i make a purchase.

For conceal-ability and price you cant go wrong with a CZ-82.
Not the most powerful shooting the 9x18mm but with a double stack 12 round mag it gets the job done. you can pick up a Czech police trade in for around $225

I'm not much of a glock fan, the trigger saftey thing wigs me out, and i cant shoot them for crap. (with practice i could) I dont like the feel of the grips either.

He lives in Wisonscin. Don't think CCW is an option.

Yeah, ccw is not a priority.  Basically just looking to start a new hobby.
