Why was the C3 and concept of propane markers abandoned?

All I know is for one, they didn't sell as many C3's as they expected and probably dropped the idea because of financial losses.

It WAS released at a bad time for pumps, A5 was fairly new, who wanted a pump?

The A5 was released years before the C3, though it is true that the C3 slightly preceded the current pump boom.  The C3 in particular was heavy, not smooth, not upgradeable, and suffered from lack of "ease of use".  It could be revisited, but again the C3 was a major loosing proposition and the need for propane powered markers doesn't really exist as most people can get at least one of either CO2 or HPA near them.

1. Yes, 3 years before
2. And they could back then, too. What was the point of making it then?

The point was trying to launch a new arm of the paintball industry. Apparently paintball is resistant to change. Just look what happened with the .50 cal disaster.
