After making more progress getting to my tomatoes with a hammer and spoon, I have decided that my can opener is a piece of crap and needs to be replaced. I am tired of getting crappy can openers from the grocery store so I am looking for suggestions for a quality manual can opener. Anybody?

Go to any army surplus store and get the handy dandy P-38 C-Rat can opener, have one on my key chain, my dog tag chain, and several in kitchen drawer. Also doubles as a head space and timing guage for the Browning M-2HB .50cal machinegun, never know when the appocolyse is due.

If you decide to keep one on your key chain, and keep your keys in a pocket, make sure the darn thing is taped closed (or otherwise secured) so you don't accidentally open a vein* when retrieving it.
*Slight exaggeration.

I have one like http://www.amazon.com/Starfrit-93112-Mightican-Manual-Opener/dp/B000X9CDY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1301076155&sr=1-1 - this one from starfrit. It might be that one, but I think the turn knob on mine is slightly smaller. I really like it because it cuts the top off from the side, and stays in the grip of the opener when its done so instead of having the lid fall/ dip into whatever you're opening, you can pick it up with the opener and drop it straight in the garbage or w/e
