Ok my friend has a 98C and since the it has an open bolt design it makes a bit of a metal clanging noise when you fire it.  He doesnt really like it and is always complaining about how much noise it makes.  Anyone got ideas about how to make it go away so he'll stop complaining

Its not that i think stuipidity should be punishable by death, i just think we should take the warning labels off of things and let the problem handle itself.

Double posting won't help you get your answer. is it a metal HPA tank or Carbon Fiber?

That may just be the ringing in a steel tank.  Has he tried it using a carbon fiber tank?

That's the famous "Tippmann Ping". It's an echo going through a metal tank.

Long long ago, the root source of the ping was found to be the old-style sear spring. Wrapping it in some sort of muffling material almost removed the sound. But since none of the current Tippmann line uses that style of sear spring maybe we got our diagnosis wrong.

I own a Tippmann Pro-Lite, Pro-Carbine, 98 Custom, and A-5. And I've never heard a "metal clanging noise". Tippmanns are loud, no doubt, but not that kind of sound. Does he have the end cap rubber grommet installed?

As far as i know he hasnt done anyhitng to internals or modded it in anyway except for buying a flatline. but the noise has been happening before he bought the flatline.
